I made up my mind

It requires a minimum of 18 years of age, and I am 16. However, with 18, I get 2300 calories (inactive) and 2550 (somewhat active). Due to walking around to all my classes and going up and down stairs all day long, I am likely somewhere in between those--say, 2400 calories. So if I change my diet to 2000 calories and add physical activity, I'd be burning more than a pound of fat a week, correct?

Yes, but if you still are wanting to do what you're doing in three months, you'll need to add more cardio, and thus more food. Not to mention, you are trying to bulk and cut at the same time, so your diet is going to have to be extremily specific. Like others have said, for the next three months, no junk food, no smoking, no alcohol, just complete and total commitment to your goal.

I'm sure it's possible, but it will take a lot of discipline.

Try substituting crazy life with some workouts. one: it's actually safer two: a little more beneficial health wise.

if you want to gain something, you need only in cold blood act on that desire.

if you compromise, that means you're failing. if you sacrifice, that means you're getting somewhere. reduce some of the wasted time, and convert it to active time.

peace

Ok, generally i don't bud in and be kind of assholish, but you can smoke a **** load of cigarettes and drink your ass off but can't find time to work out? Dude, i'm 16 and went through a drinking stage and thought it didn't do to much to me. i've been sober for a while now and i can see huge diference. i'm not in doubt you can't do this, but you really have to cut that drinking **** out bro, it, alonge with smoking, makes you feel like ****. As for weight loss, do 6 meals a day, figure your caloric requirement and subract 500, full body work outs(do compounds and minimal isolation excercises) and check out LV's grocery list

I'm willing to cut drinking out--however, drinking time isn't really gym time, as I drink only twice a week on weekends, and from midnight until about 4AM--not exactly gym time.

But, as I said, no drinking is part of what I'm going to do. However, how relevant is smoking, apart from being a health hazard? Does it alter my weight loss or toning?

It would be better if you didn't give up drinking but gave up smoking. Smoking dramatically lowers the efficiancy of your respirtory system, both short and long term. If you continue smoking, you'll tire much more quickly, have less endurance, and to top it all off, your body will be oxygen starved the whole time because of all the crap you're sucking in.

And for the love of all that is holy, you're 16 years old and you smoke up to seven packs a day? If you keep that **** up, you're going to be dead by the time you're 25.

That's only when I have nothing that stops me from smoking constantly. My day-to-day routine makes me cut down to about 2 packs a day.

ok look, i dont usually say anything in these threads but i have to at this point.
It seems, to me, that although you say you want to go through with this bet and that you are an all or nothing kind of person, it seems like you are making excuses....
Why can't you find time to do anything positive about your health and your body?
Does the fact that this is the body you are going to have to life not make you want to change it?
You are abusing your body; the drinking, the smoking, the excuses...they are all abuse and you come here...and you want someone to tell you, yes! smoke! drink! do these crunches and you'll win your bet!
well its not going to happen.
You say you have a beer belly, the best thing to do about that is replace beer with water and find another way to enjoy yourself
You don't think that two packs of 20cigs a day is a lot...well it is, you want to lose weight your going to have to do cardio and weight training and you cant succeed unless you can BREATH! So quit smoking.
Your too tired when you get home from school to exercise? Start eating more veggies and healthier food and EXERCISE and you will be amazed at your sudden boost of energy.
Any other root then exercising regularly, cutting beer and chucking cigs will be unhealthy and you will gain gain gain it all back.
good luck, i think you'll need it to get through this

That's still an absurd amount. If you have any hopes of ever not becoming one massive tumor, stop smoking right now.

You're excuse is like saying, "I only cut myself two or three times a day when I have school, but yeah, I cut myself more on weekends." It doesn't matter what the occasion is, you're 16 ****ing years old, you shouldn't be smoking at all.

I agree as well, but I'm sure telling you that smoking and binge drinking can really damage your growing body isn't going to get your attention. If you're serious about this bet you really need to focus on what is going to help you, and not slip up at all. I think you should try keeping a spreadsheet of your calories and what they are coming from. This is very simple to do and really will help you keep track of how you're consuming your calories. You've got to get a lot of cardio in if you want to get rid of your beer belly so quickly and you need weight training to build your lean muscle mass to help bun your fat while you're resting. Every time you want to go out and over indulge, instead hit the gym for an extra training session. Go for a run. Combat self-destructive impulses with something that will help you toward your goal. Make sure you are sleeping enough. I'll bet that win or lose, if you try really hard by the end of this experiment you'll feel a lot better about yourself and just a lot better in general.

i have to agree with the other posters. . . everybody understands that life can be crazy and hectic and there are tons of things that can get in the way of your goals.

but if you really want this then you have to stop making excuses and ask yourself how important this really is to you. because if you don't really want to make it happen believe me it won't.

it isnt easy but if you want to make it happen enough you'll find a way to eat right and make time to exercise.

btw, before you start shelling out for treadmills or ellipticals, you might want to make sure you are comitted enough to use it. do you have a tv? try getting a workout video and commiting to doing a certain amount of times a week. its considerably less expensive then getting a gym membership. once youve proved to yourself you can stick it out, then you might want to look at home cardio or weight loss equipment.

good luck
