reps, sets, and etc. questions

I am currently in the cutting stage, I am wondering.. what is the ideal amount weight to use in my sets? For example, I can do 35's on the bicep curls a few times, I can do 20 reps with the 30's with a good amount of effort, and with the 25's it's nice and easy to do 20 reps, (I guess by 20 reps I really mean just 10 for each arm) When cutting do you have to push yourself to your limit or can you increase the reps and lower the weight making it an easier workout? For bulking?

How many sets are ideal? I usually do two sets.
 
you should lift heavy when you are cutting so that you can keep muscle.

generally;
.......STRENGTH..MUSCLE SIZE...ENDURANCE
reps:1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 . 11 12 .. . . . . . .

as you increase the amount of reps per set, the amount of total sets go down.
5x5 is a popular strength routine
3x10, 3x8, 4x6, 3x12, 10x3 are popular hypetrophy routines

what's hypertrophy? I usually do 2 sets with 10 reps.

hypertrophy is muscle growth. 3 sets of 10 will produce better results in general because of the added volume. i recommend you get some good compound lifts and work with those 3 sets of 8, or 10, perhaps 12. that will get some improvements with proper rest and diet.
