Inventing a Vitamin diet

yeah I posted this at the other forum but I have this vitamin diet that is going to eliminate food for good. Yes I am being serious but I need opinions to make sure this is safe. Ok so here is the deal food gives you nutrients, well so does vitamins. Food has alot of calories in it, vitamins don't (some do but most dont) But what if you could just not eat food at all and just take vitamins to get your nutrients instead of eating? Like don't eat at all and just take vitamins and drink lots of water. Does that sound like a plan or no? Oh yeah and just exercise and that's it.

Here i tell you why this is not possible in a simple way

Your body requires protein
Your body requires Carbs
Your body Require Fats

With out the above you can not sustain

Im rather tired right now, maybe tomorrow ill tell you why that is likely the most ignorant and idiotic plan i have ever seen. Almost as stupid as the "Breathtarian" diet.

You could do it for a while. Your metabolisim would drop to 0 and you'd burn through your muscle. Basically, you'd look like Ghandi because this is basically a fast. If your already fat, you'd look like Ghandi with some big skin flaps all over your body.lol

Fasting is not an effective way to lose weight. Only recommended for spiritual purposes, and even then in a controlled fashion.

What you're suggesting is the ideal of anorexia. Oh yes.

I didnt say jack about fasting i said take vitamins that give u enough nutrients so u dont have to eat food cuz food makes u sick

..I'm not sure which reality you're living in, but here in mine, vitamins are micronutrients. Food sources provide you with macronutrients. They're two different things. You cannot live on just one or the other. Vitamins that contain macronutrients in sufficient quantity to act as meal replacements are called, oddly enough "meal replacements", or "food", not vitamins.

Are you referring to getting all of your caloric requirements from supplementation (protein powder, protein bars, meal replacements)? If that's the case, that's not healthy and will give most people serious digestive problems.

If you think not eating food and "taking vitamins" is something other than fasting, then I have no idea what the hell kind of sense that makes. Fasting = not eating solid foods, or more strictly, not taking in calories. How are you proposing to get food calories (macronutrients) from vitamins (micronutrients)? Do you know some amazing nutritional secret that the rest of us don't? Unless you do, then you ARE talking about fasting, or meeting your caloric needs through supplementation. What you described doing in your original post and your reply is fasting.

In short, I stand by what I said. It sounds like you are anorexic/contemplating anorexia. That's not something anyone here is going to give you the go-ahead for.

If I'm confused, please explain it to me. I can only go by what you've written. When you say vitamins do you mean "supplements?"

Listen

Vitamins are NOT a source for energy (calories). We obtain our energy from MACROnutrients - Carbohydrates, Proteins, and fats.
Vitamins are NOT part of the our body tissues, they are NOT building blocks but HELPERS in. We can Not live on vitamins but need food that provides energy and helps forms the actual tissues of our body
IN fact, we need food and certain minerals to best absorb ANY vitamin supplements we take.

You are about to make a very unwise, unhealthy choice for yourself. without proteins your body can not repair itself correctly, with out fats your cells become unstable without carbs your energy levels will suffer greatly "the process is much more complicated but this post would be pages long if it would explained in great detail.

Vitamins are called "Supplements" for a reason to "Supplement" what you are already doing, if you could live off of them they would be called "replacer's" or some other non sense like that.

Out of courosity though, if you did go on this "Diet" how would you go about it? would you take Capsules,Tablets,Powdered, liquid?
how would you go about taking Water-soluble vitamins?
how much would you take? (AI),(EARs),(RDAs),(UL) amounts?
what form would you take? Synthetic,Organic,Inorganic,Chelated,Time-release,

Actually I learned something valuable from this post. I never really understood Macro vs micro and all that stuff, now some stuff makes a hell of a lot more sense to me guys. So be it that your efforts may have been wasted elsewhere I certainly learned something incredibly valuable today, thank you!

wow mind blowing. i have a suggestion. why not just eat dirt and drink water? it's got even more basic elements we are made of.

no offense but this is an extremely stupid idea (to eliminate food?) not even worth a try for even one day.

Please, do not attempt this, I'm begging you. This is essentially what my sister does. She takes vitamins, eats a bit of dry cereal, a few peanuts, half a yogurt, and maybe a little candy, and drinks diet coke. She weighs 80 pounds and is 5 foot 7. She has been hospitalized quite a few times with critically low potassium levels. Her teeth are breaking, her skin looks sallow, her hip bones protrude. She has no energy to do anything.

She is 35 years old and I do not expect her to live to see 40. She is anorexic and is killing herself slowly.

You cannot live on vitamins. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not try this.

You may feel great for a day or so, but I honestly doubt that you'll be able to keep that up for even three or four days. Your body will become so deprived of nutrients that you'll become very tired and cranky, and will eventually go on a binge fest. You may like to tell yourself that you can fight it, but it'll be amazing if you keep that up for long.

You need food. That's why we, and every other living thing on the planet has to eat. If we didn't need food, we already wouldn't be eating it, as I'm sure popping a few vitamin pills each day would be a much cheaper and quicker route than cooking or buying meals all the time.

cuz food makes u sick
Well yeah, if it's past it's expiration date. If you're trying to suggest, however, that the consumption of food is directly related to illness, then you need to go back to 3rd grade health class.
