argh, almost there.

I am 5 feet 8 and 1/2 inches tall. I weigh 142 pounds, and i'm 21. I just got my body fat tested a couple weeks ago, and it was 10.1 %. It was the pincher test where they take various measurements around the body. The area that was the worst was my abdomen, coming in at 17 (whatever that means) but me and the trainer saw that most of my fat was there. How can I get rid of these last few pounds of fat?

ok, diet. On Monday Wednesday I have 2 pop tarts or toaster strudels and a bowl of cereal, about 800 calories. For breakfast. I have College all day, so when I get home around 5 I have either pasta roni, clam chowder soup with crackers, steak and beans chunky soup with crackers, macaroni and cheese with hot dogs in it, and sometimes a hamburger, usually around another 600-800 calories. Then I have some kind of dessert, Yogurt, an apple and a yogurt, or just a bit of candy, usually 50-150 calories though.

On all other days I have just the toaster strudel/pop tarts OR cereal for breakfast, then come home for lunch and have one of the meals I listed above that I had for supper, or sometimes I just have a sandwich(turkey, or ham, or summer sausage, with a single cheese). Then for supper I would end up having one of the meals listed above again, with a small dessert(60 calorie yogurt). I don't have the same type of meal two times in a day though. for example if i have pasta roni for lunch, i'd have a 400 calorie soup instead, otherwise i'd go way over my maintance. I work out a lot on tuesdays and thursdays though, so I burn more calories those days. I usually only make about 200 calories below my maintance weight each day.

Then on Friday actually I usually have pizza with my friends and usually go over my intake by 400 or so (but i'm going to try and stop doing that!!)

This is my typical week though, and it doesn't get much different than that, every once in a while if I have some extra calories I can eat during a day I might have some canned fruit or corn. But yeah that's my diet.

I mean that is pretty, you should consider yourself genetically lucky to be chowing on that food and not being huge.

Change your diet, get in some good whole foods. To lose fat you need to be in a deficit. There is to much to cover so I suggest starting here...

That was a pretty good article. I don't know about eating 5-8 meals a day though. I'm at college for 6 hours out of the day on MW. And if I eat small meals contantly like that I get very hungry. I like to eat 3 meals a day and feel satisfied after each one, otherwise all I can think about is food. I mean, is the metabolic boost even significant??

What are some examples of whole foods? I switched from white bread to 12 grain wheat..

I can't really change my diet though. The grocery store had a huge sale where I bought about 40 boxes of pasta roni, and about 30 macaroni and cheeses. Also I have about 50 soups in here still. I guess if there is no other way to lose weight with my current diet, i'll just have to do it after summer is over, and reform my diet then. I can't let all my food go to waste, ya know?

what bad will come of it if I continue eating like this? Can you recommend any great sites that explain nutrition to people that know hardly anything about it?

This one. Read some of the many threads asking basically the same question you are that are answered every day. The 'Search' function is your friend. :)

LOL I LOVE THat DIET PLAN, i bet you arnt dropping any weight huh?

I actually have gone from 170 to 142 with this diet plan. As far as I know if you have a calorie defecit you'll lose weight no matter what, that's what I've read a few times.

but seriously, what bad things will happen to me if I stay on this type of diet? What unhealthy side effects.

k, i'm ready to start eating really healthy now. All my noodles and stuff basically doesn't expire. I have no idea where to start though can someone help me out?

OK, as Focus said, the "search" function will help you greatly, theres a ton of info on good eating here.

Check the "sticky" at the top of the Nutrition room, and look at the Grocery List compiled by member LV. It really covers just about all the kinds of good foods you should be eating.

A lot of nutrition is common sense. Hot dogs in macaroni and cheese? Come on, you know you shouldn't be eating that if you are serious about being fit and heart healthy. There's nothing but crap in it.

You need lean sources of protein in every meal, 5-6 times a day. Carbs are great, you need them for energy, but I reccommend making most of them come from veggies and some fruit, with a serving or two of oats, brown rice, and/or whole wheat bread. Get good fats too, olive oil, fish oil, fats from nuts, and a little fat from animal products is ok...

I knew nothing about nutrition, weight lifting, and general health, but all it takes is educating yourself. Knowledge is power...
