Healthy/Low Calorie Salad Dressing Help.

Anyone have any good recipes? I'm flying in the dark here, all I know are the traditional dressings (which I think are very high in calories/fat?) I don't know where to start.

Thanks! :)

I take a little flaxseed oil, a little extra virgin olive oil, some kind of vinegar (red wine vinegar, basalmic vinegar, even malt vinegar) and make my own vinegrette type dressing.

that way the calories are all coming from healthy fat.

Hey! I recently used this Honey Mustard dressing (I mixed it up myself hahaha) it looks good calorie-wise (25 calories if I add them up per tablespoon) and it tastes great! Is this okay for regular use?

I have seen bottled low fat ranch/italian/white dressing in the grocer's but then I heard that they're actually quite bad for you? Or are they okay? Thanks again!

From what I read on the subject, honey has a medium/slow effect on blood sugar levels with a glycemic index of 55. This is lower than sugar, but otherwise honey is nutritionally the same. No fat or protein, all carbs...all of which are sugars. So I would be sparing with it, especially regarding the timing of when you eat it.

Aside from that I see no downside to honey mustard dressing. As for lowfat dressings, I would read the label closely. Make sure no high fructose corn syrup is present, and conisder the kcal count and macro breakdown. As long as you are active and getting a proper balance of macros and a proper number of kcals I would assume they are fine. But please note that is only an assumption.

Truthfully though, I prefer to stick with oil and vinegar/vinagerette myself.
