Cynic, I think in yoga what you're showing is referred to as a bridge (although clearly not the official name).

Isopach, I agree that your's is also a bridge, in gymnastics (and maybe martial arts?).

So how about you're both right? lol. I'm not sure which would be right as far as general fitness/strength training goes.

Sometimes they are called planks. They're used in weightlifting and strength sports to build a strong, stable core. Absolutely essential for powerlifters and anyone who does squats and deadlifts.

Isopach, I agree that your's is also a bridge, in gymnastics (and maybe martial arts?).

Yoga, gymanstics and any fighting art (including wrestling, but probably not boxing). This per: Robert dos Remedios, MA, CSCS.

wow ive been tryin the back thing isopach does, and its only my second day doing it and im almost to the ground. i think i get close and freak like im gonna fall lol. the only bad thing i noticed is my neck got sore from doing it yesterday. oh well. sorry to interrupt thread topic again!
