workingout just ur upper body..

im working out just of my upper body for a year....just wanna know is there like any side effects if i dont work out my lower body... cuz all i do is for calves , no deadlifts, squats or anything... and also if i start working out my lower body too, will i get better results on my upper body too??..

If your not working your back, but you are working your abs then you'll soon end up with perminant spine problems.

Building muscle speeds up your metabolizm. If your not working your legs then your missing out on the weight loss benifits. And deadlifts will build your grip, lower and upper back better than any other exercise.

Only working your upper body is basicly stupid.

not to mention you will be come down with a terrible case of "chicken legs" which is remedied either by lower body workouts....or zubaz pants.

You sure will..

Muscle imbalances lead to injury, plain and simple. Yes, working your legs will allow you to get a bigger upper body. Think of a tree. A tree can only grow as big as its trunk and roots will allow. Otherwise it will bend or crack. Same applies to your spine.

Not working your lower body also leads to what's known as a "tank top bodybuilder." It can also lead to the "Brad Pitt" look which is abs with no size or strength.

I also agree, no leg work is a prescription for:

1. back injury
2. less upper body development
3. less HGH and Testosterone boost (squats and deadlifts are the biggest triggers to boost these all important hormones)
4. ridicule by women who can out squat you
5. tiny chicken legs

my wife recently decided to squat the weight I move, and she could.

so I of course up'd my poundage by 20lbs and did 2 more reps than her. :)
