Problem with meals

Hello,
I have a big problem with meals. I have a full-time 8 hour a day job, so I cant eat all these meals every day in small portions like you are supposed to. We dont get breaks on my job, so by the time I get home I am HUNGRY. I usually eat twice a day, One fairly big meal when I get home, and usually a light snack like some fruit or a couple muffins or something. Im not a big guy, I weigh about 155, but my body looks the best when Im about 140-145 (I have a small-scale structure). So my goal is to lose 10 pounds. Is it possible to lose this in a reasonable amount of time by running 30 minutes a day 4 times a week while not changing my eating habits? (Because I really cant). I also drink alot of water (probably a gallon a day or more) so thats good.. but after stuffing my face after I get home from work I always feel like crap because I know you shouldnt do that.

Anways, is losing 10 pounds a reasonable goal with this setup?

Thanks in advance

WEll you could have a healthy breakfast, make a tuna wrap to take to work, Im sure you have toilet breaks (not the you have to eat it in the toilet!)

You must get a lunch break. If not I hope your job is worth the money.
In the UK its the law that you have to have 30mins payed break in an 8 hour day.

Have a protien bar in the car on the way home and a healthy dinner.
some friut and oats before bed.

That wasnt so hard.

I meant to ask about protien bars. What are the good ones? Are they a fad filled with extra sugar, or is it really a good thing to eat?

Thanks

Some are, some aren't.

L. Schuler likes the low-carb Grow! bars as one with the least amount of harmful stuff and they are pretty good. I got one as a gift from Biotest when I ordered big from them.

Im a poker dealer on the strip in Las Vegas. We do get breaks every so often, but our boss wants us helping out doing various things on our break like bringing players more chips, getting the other dealers fills on their tray, and cleaning up. We arent allowed off the floor unless its to go to the bathroom. Its not a problem to me, but I obviously dont have time to eat during that time. Does this make it harded to lose weight? What should I do during that time, just drink alot of water? I guess I could eat a small meal when I get home if I can run back and put a protien bar or a piece of fruit down quick during one of my breaks.
Is this a viable option?

Also, is 30 minutes on the treadmill at 5.1 MPH 4 days a week overdoing it or is that about right? Once I get moved into my new house I am going to join the gym and throw in some weight training too

Thanks again

if your working in canada or the usa, you should be legally entitled to certain breaks depending on how many hours you work (taking a 'break' doing other jobs than card dealing doesn't count). But that's a separate issue.

Do you need to eat 4-6 small meals a day to lose weight? I don't think so, although it can be helpful to for many people . I guess the only way to figure out if you can lose the weight without changing your diet is to try it. Everybody is different, some people react more to exercise than others. Give it a try for awhile, what do you have to lose? You could else just make sure your diet is looking really healthy and balanced, thats a good thing.

Consider seeing your doctor, they can help you out in reaching your goals.

Good luck!

I think you need to look into your state's Labor laws. I know in my state, its illegal for an employer to force you to work during your designated break.
in my book, health > work.
not having 6 meals a day won't ruin your goals, but having 6 meals a day will boost metabolism, regulate blood sugar and energy, and make your goals easier and quick to attain.
on a break, i still wouldn't go with protein bars unless you make them yourself. store bought ones just aren't usually that great for you. that or a whey + casein protein shake, and some fish oil capsules to slow digestion fo the shake while adding omega 3's to your diet.

Eat a breakfast, take a bathroom room break and much on a homemade protein bar, take your lunch and eat a healthy meal (my fav. on the go meal is a hemp bread sandwich with hummus, tomatoes, swiss cheese, and lettuce) and a piece of fruit, have a handful of nuts on the ride home, eat a healthy dinner with plenty of veggies and lean proteins.

It can be done, but it's hard. It's hard for folks in college, regular school, and at work. Heck, it's even hard for me and I work from home! It's a matter of "making it work" and sticking to it.

Running on the treadmill is better than nothing. Honestly, your best bet would be to incorporate a weight training routine as well.

Absolutely. I know this wasn't the intended topic but really....even in my state, it's illegal. For 8 hrs of work you do, u are LEGALLY REQUIRED to take 30 mins lunch break and then in many instances two-15 min breaks. These breaks are NOT to be used to "bring players more chips" or "getting the other dealers fills on their tray". That is WORKING. A break or lunch period is one where u do NOTHING that involves your job. You take a BREAK from it. To regroup. Use the bathroom. EAT. Whatever. But it does not involve doing things like u mentioned. Even when I worked at the mall when I was in my early 20s We were given our 15's and our lunches. Even during the holiday rush. NO EXCEPTIONS!
