Your advice please

Hello. I am a new member. Great site.

My question: I have always trained during lunch. Weights only, no cardio. I am 44 years old and want to include some level of cardio. I am not sure of the correct timing for both cardio and weight training. I can do either morning, noon, or early evening. I would like to be able to train in the mornings, but I am not truly a morning person, but I am sure I can change that. :) I want to be able to train 4 sessions, and cardio 3 sessions. Any advice? Any meal timing advice as well.

Thanks for your time.

What are your goals? Gain muscle or lose fat?

If gaining muscle is your main goal, then cardio should be kept separate of weight training. If its fat loss, either separate or weight training followed by cardio is ok.

Hi Allen-

I suppose my gaols are a bit of both. I am in "fairly" good shape. My bodyweight is 182 lbs and bodyfat about 19-21% and I am 5'7". I want to maintain muscle and have a little more fat loss. You may be correct on the sepeation of both.

Thanks

If you want to just maintain, look into HIIT (theres a forum here for it). It really sheds fat. Coupled with a strong weight training regimine and good healthy eating, you'll be lean by summer :D

I have just read many posts here for the past 2 hours...whew..
MANY differing opinions on lifting and cardio mix... It almost seems that the bottom line is to try "it" and see what works....

Your pretty safe with alternate days. I lift Mon, Wed, Fri and run Tue, Thu, Sat and take sundays off. Worked for me.
