Yay! I broke my 3 week stall!

Hello all! I've been trying to get in shape by working out and eating better since January this year and by valentines day I had lost 21lbs which I was delighted about. However, at that point the scale just stopped moving. I kept on working out and eating properly but nothing changed...this went on for three weeks. I wasn't feeling discouraged but I was a little frustrated - I knew that I should expect the weight loss to stall and that changing something was the way to get things going again...but it's funny how hard it is to change a routine when you've been working for two months to make it a habit! Anyway, my husband insisted that I needed to give my body a break so I took a few days off - no gym, no swimming, no squash, no dancing, and more calories. I won't lie to you - it felt horrible! I felt stodgy and slow and I definitely noticed the lack of exercise-induced endorphins. But I hit the scale on Monday after 4 rest days and boom - I was 2.5lbs down from the 173 I'd been stuck at for weeks! I've been in the gym and the pool and dancing since then and this morning I was down another 2bs! Awesome! Just wanted to share this success and hopefully bring some encouragement to anyone who is stuck in a stall!

That's awesome :)

Rest is very important, and it sounded like that's just what you needed! I'm glad it didn't discourage you to the point of giving up. The fact that you kept going and learned from that experience means you're guaranteed to reach your goals in no time :)

Well done!

same thing happened to me...I exercised less and ate more(which was hard to do at first) and boom I dropped 3lbs in five days...sometimes a little change goes a long way. I learned that I was over training my body and not giving it the correct amount of calories to fuel it.
Congrats!!!

I had a week long stall, luckily I went to my trainer & she had me do some new stuff. It was enough to get me going again. man, are the "stalls' ever frustrating! I'll remember your post next time I hit one & remember to rest/switch things up a bit.

Glad to hear you hung in there....the results were well worth it.
