Yarm's No More Excuses!

Monday 5/5/08

Still in my "funk". I've not been "bad" per say, but definately lacking motivation. Last week was a struggle to stay focused after starting the week off with a kinda emotional meeting with the siblings. I was all excited to start running last monday, but then the new ipod thingy for my shoe didnt work and it went down hill from there. I still have to journal my food intake. Today was the first monday in 5+ weeks I have not exercised. I will have to make up for it tomorrow. I need to visualize the future: how I will look and feel when I lose 5, 10 more pounds!

Enough whining :nopity:

Get up tomorrow and get out of the funk and back in the right frame of mind!

Wed May 8th

I was a bit too sore to work out this morning. My thighs and gluts are throbbing- my guess is from putting together the guinea pig cage on my hands on knees for quite a while on monday. I'm hoping to mow the lawn when I get home and get some exercise in that way. I'm motivated and focused- I packed a lunch of a turkey on low cal wheat, a small garden salad and a banana. Then also grabbed rice cake and yogurt for snacks.

The guinea pigs are settling in nicely- SOO cute! The daughter seems a bit more outgoing than her mom, but I think they are both likely to be very friendly and accept some handling soon.

Congrats on getting the gunieas! We have a guinea pig in our classroom, she's the neatest thing. I would love to have one but atm, we have too many "rodent" type animals. :D We have 2 degus and a hamster. Plus the dog and the cockatiel in the house - it's like our own zoo.

Have a great weekend!

Wed May 14th

I havent posted in nearly a week. I have been awful, and feel awful- for doing so poorly. Minimal exercise and careless with eating.

I can't find/maintain any motivation. I think I have understimated how hard it would be to focus on this weightloss thing, so soon after losing Mom & Dad. As I posted in the Memorial Day thread, it's not like I cry or mope for hours or days, but in my subconsience I am "blah". It's like emotioanlly, I'm on automatic pilot. It's so hard to focus on me, and having a goal. It's hard to get excited about anything, let alone anything that requires some work on my part (journaling, watching food intake, exercise). I know the healing process is gonna take some time, but I hope to get past this part of it soon, as it's not helping how I feel about my self either. The last thing I want to do is spiral out of control and start obscessing about my body image, how fat I am, etc. I don't know much about anything these days- only that I REALLY MISS Mom & Dad. I guess the only thing I can do, is do my best and don't use my feeling of helplessness as an excuse to eat the wrong things and/or too much of anything.

"Where you used to be,
there's a hole in the world,
which I find myself constantly
walking around in the daytime,
and falling into at night. I miss
you like hell."

Don't beat yourself up. Things are tough, and the weight loss will come even if not as quickly as you had hoped. Use this time (in your weight loss) to maintain, and not get so serious about it. If you gain a bit, don't worry about it, because it will come off eventually. Keep us updated on your life, because we do care. You have a bunch of us here pulling for you.

Hey girl, how are you doing? Sorry I haven't been in here as much (or even posting to the Memorial Day thread.) I have been super busy, though I have stopped by to read.

I didn't see your last post, but wanted to say that I think we will always have those days/weeks where we just don't "care". I know you and know that you will get back on track, so don't be so hard on yourself. Take care and ((hugs)).

I've totally fallen off the wagon. My excuse is grieving the loss of my parents, but that is . . . just an excuse. I keep wrestling in my mind about the how's and why's of my situation. How can I get thru this? What do I need to do? Why do I keep doing this to myself. I always come up with 2 answers as a way to approach getting back on track:
1. To take it slow. Don't expect to be able to do so much, so soon, knowing that I will be easily distracted by all that is going on with my parents loss and the estate settling, selling the house, etc.
2. Get serious and get going.

I'm not sure what the right answer is. I know I can't continue to do nothing. So no matter what happens next, starting tomorrow I am stepping on the scale to check the damage. Let's just start with tomorrow. I will be conscience of my eating and at the very least, take a long walk with the dog.

The above post is from the challenge, and as stated, weighing in and starting on the right path today. 177lbs - that's a gain of 5lbs over the past 2 weeks, but I can't focus on the negative. Let's face it, it could be much worse. Let use reverse pyschology and say "Cool! I can lose that 5lbs in only 2 weeks!"

Goals this week:
-plan most of my meals ahead
-exercise 3x this week

Each day is a new day, an opportunity to do good things for my body and feel good about myself. Let's take it one day at a time.

Hey there! I'm so sorry you've been feeling so blue about your mom and dad. I thought your mom was still living. Did she pass just recently? :grouphug:

Just wanted to let you know the ACS Relay for Life was this past weekend, and I did my 24hr walk. Walked about 40 miles. We've raised $385K (the whole relay total) so far, and final totals are not in yet. Thought that might bring a smile to your face. :)

Hang in there girl! :hug2:

Tues 5/27/08

I think planning the meals helps . . a loss of 1.6 this week. I did get in a few walks, and bonsu exercise from mowing the lawn and cleaning the house. I did slack on the water tho.

Was a pretty good week. Rented a dumpster and cleaned out the utility room, under deck and shed. Also, ended up tossing in the old sofa and love seat. Got some new shevling units to organize the laundry room, and the best part- ordered a new sectional sofa for the tv room! I still have quite a bit of work to do, but don't mind it because I know by next week I will have a clean, comfortable place to relax. And, having all the clutter gone lifts a huge weight off of my shoulders.

I will plan this weeks meals this morning.

Sounds like you have been very busy! :)
Glad to hear that you got some good results with the scale.
As much as I dislike to clean in general I love to throw things away.
Keep at it girly.
Slow and steady wins the race. And your winning!

Nothing new to report, been fluctuating the past week.

Working hard on eating right, exercise is not where I would like it to be, but I did do the Relay for Life walk Sat night (9 hours of walking!)

Joined a few challenges in the hopes to get some more motivation!

9 hours of walking is GREAT! Way to go.

(Those challenges can be so much fun and it helps keep you on course)

Hi Yarmiah,

Just popping in to say hi, how are you? I know I kind of disappeared on you, life just took over.
I see you are still trucking along!!
Planning the menu does help. That's the only way I stay within my calories, learned it in a hard way, just gained 3 lbs when I stopped calorie counting.

I am back for a little while, i will be working to lose these last 6 lbs but I am not going to go crazy with it like before.

Have a great day.
hajni

Still need to up the exercise but eating right on track- the challenge is CONTINUING to eat well.

I'm really hoping that participating in a few challenges will give me the motivation I need to get back in the right fream of mind(excited and focused-not ust going thru the motions).

It's rainy out, so that nixed my plans to walk the dog, but how knows . . maybe when I get home from work it will be dry?

I'm excited!!! My new sofa is being deliverered today. It replaced a pos set that was a hand me down that we have had for @10years.
