Yarm's No More Excuses!

Old habits die hard as the saying goes. I eat out of habit sometimes too. I'm trying to eat only when I feel hungry (listening more to my body.) And stopping when I'm full.

Of course that doesn't always work, like today I could've been satisfied with half of the panini, but decided since I didn't have a huge breakfast, I would eat the whole thing (and I didn't want to be famished while painting.)

But at least I was "thinking" it. Now just to do it.

My hubby eats pretty well now, but I remember the days when he didn't - it was sooooo hard to stay on track.

Day 11(week 2, day 4)

Another on track day :). Got up and hopped on the Nordik Trak for 30 min. This was my first day at work since the water challenge and I had to get out a resealable pitcher to bring with me in addition to my regular water bottle (I like to fill it with my filtered water). I only had one cup of coffee as I wanted to get started on the water early, and I actually finished all 88oz by 5pm! I ate pretty well, staying in the points range, allowing myself a tiny piece of coffee cake at lunch time that someone in the office had made.

Breakfast - 1% milk, lite english muffin with p.b.
Lunch - WW potates, slice of zucchini pie
snack - small piece coffee cake
Dinner - lean beef, baked potatoe with reduced fat sour cream, grilled veggies
snack - glass of chocolate milk

Great job on your excercising and eating. Your really focused and you will be rewarded with more weight-loss when you continue this road! My dh eats alot and he is always talking about his weight how he wants to lose but he does absolutely nothing to help it!
Keep up the good Job!

Day 12 (week2, day 5)

First thing again today, I got on the Nordik TraK. Thursday is not my usual day for NT, but figured I could use the more rigorous exercise having had 2 non typical eating days this week. Thursday is cleaning day, so not really looking forward to that, but otherwise pretty motivated. I'm looking forward to going away for the weekend with my sister and I'm not really worried about the food cause she is a good eater and we wont be tempted by TOO much :D. Because I will be out of town for a few days, I will bring along my diary notebook that I have been keeping as well and have to post when I get back, on here.

breakfast - 1% milk, mini whole wheat bagel w/ pb
snack - low fat granola bar
lunch - turkey & cheese on whole wheat, ww yogurt
snack - no fat gelati, 94% ff popcorn
dinner - garden salad, light dressing, light cheese
snack - popcorn (air popped)

Day 13 & 14 (Week 2, day 6 & 7)

This weekend,(fri-sun) I went on a girls get away weekend with my sister-in-law to the beach. It was great fun, and I did very well with the diet and exercise, altho SUnday when I got home, I made some less-than-optimal diet choices, but I have the extra "points" and I'm told I'm not to feel guilty about having to use them, but old habits die hard and I do feel a litte bad about having eaten what I did. As I hope I have mentioned before, I am doing Weightwatchers program from home, and have a certain amount of points to eat daily, and a bonus 35 "extra" points for the week.

All in all, it was a great time, but I must say it was a bit of a downer when we went shopping for clothes. She was trying on clothes and looking fantastic, even the clerks were commenting on her hour glass figure. I would try on my size 14 clothes, and they were either too big, or too tight, or too frumpy. She ended up buying a few tops, and a killer pair of jeans . . me, i bought two 38DDD bras (the cup size is so hard to find), which werent the sexiest style of bra of course, and one pair of jeans that I bought mostly because they were 30% and they were "ok".

On a positive note, I think I did pretty well with my eating choices, and I drank my water and also got my exercise in 2 of the 3 days. I also am using my disappointment from shopping to be motivation- that when next we go shopping in the future, I will also be happy and excited to try on nice fitting clothes that make me feel good about myself.

Friday:
Breakfast-1% milk, mini what bagle with cr. cheese
Lunch/snack - banana, rice cake (driving in the car)
Dinner - 5 grilled shrimp, broccoli, salad
Desert - small slice of cheese cake, with a small piece of chocolate bar

Hey Yarmiah,

Don't fret you will be getting some sexy clothes soon. BTW, they do have some nice stuff in size 14 - don't fret! You just have to keep looking.

This reminds me of the time I went shopping with my younger sis after she had graduated from high school. At the time I was over 200 lbs. Her and I and her cousin went shopping - they were like in size 6 - me, I was in 20! I was so disgusted with myself.

Size 14 is average nowadays - so I wouldn't get too discouraged.

It sounds like you had a great time!!

Day 15 (Week 3,day 1)

Today was the end of the girls weekend. I ate a healthy breakfast, then headed to church. Including the side trip to check out a cute, quaint town, it was a 4 hour trip and we didnt want to get caught in traffic, so we never stopped for lunch. I had a rice cake and later, a low fat granola bar in the car. When I finally made it home I was still hungry and grabbed a low fat ice cream treat. Then hubby and I had to pick up the kids and his parents house, and were asked to pick up chicken. I did end up eating one breast, as well as some rice and veggies. I'm still feeling guilty for eating it, but know I really shouldn't because one piece, once in a while is not the end of the world. I will, however commit to working out on the Nordik Trak everyday this week, instead of just M-W-F.

Breakfast - milk, plain bagel w/ little cream cheese, yogurt
Snack - rice cake, LF granola bar, low fat ice cream treat
Dinner - Popeye's chicken breast, cajun rice, broccoli, 2 ears of corn
Dessert - gummi worms

HI Yarmiah,
I know all about the clothes shopping experience. Somehow the cute outfits I find are not made for the size I am in. But those days will be over soon!! For both of us!!
I see you upping the exercise!! Good for you girl!! For me, no exercise = no loss, no matter how much I try to limit my food intake. I think my body is just used to eating not much and it does not make a difference!!
Keep on going fellow Casper, you can do this!!

POPEYES:eek: What I would do for some of their fries-LOL I would not even think about the chicken you ate it long and gone and atleast you only had 1 piece!
Adding more excercise will definitely help you get to your goal sooner! Some months ago I refused to go shopping when I started fitting into 14 I still was not happy but their was a variety of clothing out there-unfortunately they didnt fit me correctly always too big in the waist. When lost some more and fit into 12s that when the fun started:jump: now I am in 10s and even fit my old 8s so with determiniation cuter clothing is within your reach!

Day 16 (week 3, day2)

The kids were off of school today, and we went to meet my sister for lunch. I did get on the Nordik Trak for 30 min first thing, as I know the longer the day goes on, the more excuses I will find for not getting on it. Knowing I would be having an early lunch with my sister, I had a piece of fruit for breakfast. She decided on a mongolian stir fry bar. It was pretty cool- you tell them what meat u want and they hand you a bowl which you fill with veggies from a salad bar. It is served with rice, I opted for the white instead of the fried rice. All in all I dont think it was a bad choice, and I ate about 2/3 of it at lunch, and finished it for dinner. I did recognize a mistake/slip I made when grabbing a snack in the afternoon- I estimated the number of bran crackers, instead of counting them out. I know it was not alot more than a serving, but if I keep doing that kind of thing, all those of the estimations will add up quickly.

Breakfast - banana
Lunch - chicken/veggie stirfry with rice
Snack - bran crackers, SF pudding
Dinner - leftover stirfry
Snack - chocolate milk, popcorn

Sounds like you had a great day!

I have a little story about a Nordic Trak ski machine dh and I bought a long while back...well to make the story short...basically we got it, unwrapped it, set it up, then dh got on it, fell off of it...then we called the company and sent it back!!

It's funny now that I think back on it, but of course at the time dh did not see the amusement. :p

Hi Yarmiah
I've been meaning to get over here and check out your diary but I always seem to get sidetracked. Must be Adhd. I think it runs in my family! LOL
Your doing a great job and that lunch with your sister sounded delish!
Well I will try to keep up with you more now that I have been here once.
Go Caspers!!

HI Yarmiah,

I started working out in the mornings first just to "get it out of the way", so i don't have to worry about it later on. Then once I did that and sat at work for 9 hrs and went home and did my house-chores, kind of felt I did not exercise today... so I did some more. Tell you, tricks we can play with our minds... LOL
Mongolian Stir Fry bar. I would have loved to try it. I love to try foods and I bet they had some nice vegetarian choices as well. My absolute favorite is indian food, we used to go at least once a month or twice to the indian buffet, but since i can't control myself when I am there we just stopped until I reach my goal. Good for you to make great choices, I would have not had the strenght I think.:D There are certain foods I am kind of addicted to and if I have it front of me, there is no rhyme or reason with me I will eat as much as I possibly can!!!:( my only solution is to avoid them all together!!

You are going strong and you are an awesome supporter to us all on Casper's Countdown. Thank you girl!!

Day 17 (week 3,day 3)

Today was quite an early start. DH has a scheduled sinus surgery and we had to get up at 5am. Rushing us and the kids out and being so early, had no time for breakfast. We got home around 12:30pm, but I had to run out and get his scripts and he wanted soup, so I grabbed some salad bar while out and had that for lunch. I kept telling myself that even tho it was Tuesday (a non NT day), I really need to exercise because so far this week, nothing has been routine, including my diet. I was kind of happy it was rainy, or I would have settled for takin the dog for a walk as exercise, but instead, I was a GOOD GIRL and got on that NT at 5pm. I need to keep workin on my water- even tho the challenge is over, I have not even kept up with drinking my standard 34oz. ggrrr.

I have been tempted to step on the scale, but have been fighting the urge because I have not been as predicatable this week, and if there is not progress on the scale, it may set me up for feeling bad & "falling off the wagon". I can, however, feel that my clothes are slightly looser, so this is a good sign.

Breakfast - none
Lunch - garden salad with egg, cheese and chicken
Snack - rice cake
Dinner - 2 bowls of beef soup(homemade)
Dessert - Slim-A-Bear

Day 18(week 3, day 4)

I'm so glad to be back into a routine! I work wed- sat, and since the girls weekend last week, I 've been out of whack. Hubby was sleeping in bed, recovering from his surgery the day before, so I drug the Nordik out of the bedroom, into the TV room and hopped on first thing this AM. My overall mood is good, again, happy to be back in a routine. I also finished my water bottle, which is a plus. I usually have choir practice on Wed's, but it was cancelled, so I took the opportunity to get the lawn mowed, and bonus exercise.

Breakfast - whole wheat mini bagel, with light cream cheese, 1% milk
Lunch - WW frozen entree(potatoes broccoli w/cheese), WW yogurt
Snack - apple with P.B.
Dinner - 2 lite hot dogs, 1 lite roll, green beans, ear of corn
Dessert - air popped popcorn(spray butter and ranch seasoning, YUM!)

Hey yarmiah,

I read about the .8 lbs up, don't let it discourage you. It's hard not to want to believe in the scales and make them measure our progress, but you are getting stronger and eating healthier. Keep it up!

What is NT?

HI Yarmiah.
Oh, girl I just read your post on Casper. Don't let the 0.8 lb get you down. I was up this morning too with like 0.2 lbs from Sat. Absolutely illogical as i am counting calories and exercising like a mad-woman. There are fluctuations in weights from one day to another, you might just caught a "high" day. I weigh myself everyday and got used to seeing numbers totally un-reasonable. One day I am 158 the next day I am 159.2 for no reason!! Then I am 158.6 the third day. I stopped worrying about it, and just concentrate on the weekly number.
Tell you, I was 158 on Sat, I haven't seen that darn number since!!!! The closest I came to it was today at 158.2 and I still know I will have a good number on Sat. Because I believe it will be!!!!
Did you go back to drinking under 64 oz a day? the less we drink the more our body holds onto the water... just a thought.
Keep on going... you will see a nice surprise at the end.
hajni

Thanx guys. I think its human nature to be disappointed when the scale dosnt reflect what you want it to. But also realize that its not the only way to track progress, and opver teh past 3 weeks, I am doing my body good, no matter what the stupid scale says.

As far as water goes, yest was my first day of gettin down my entire 34oz water bottle. I guess I was so sick of water after doing 88oz a day last week, and that coupled with the fact its been an offweek up until Weds. I will continue to work on gettin in that 34oz everyday at the minimum.

Sweet/sweatpea ;) NT is my abbreviation for my Nordik Trak ski machine thingy.

Day 19(week 3,day5)

Well, today didnt start off so good. I was dead tired and really ddint want to get up and exercise.I figured I'd step on the scale and if it was down, I would get my exercise in the form of a walk with the dog in the evening, but instead of being down it was up. I collected myself after wasting 15 min of frustration, and did some floor exercises. Then went home and cleaned the house and got on the NT in the evening.

I did very well with my diet and water today also.

Breakfast - raisin bran, 1% milk
Snack - 94% FF popcorn
Lunch - WW entree, peach
Snack - WW yogurt, rice cake
Dinner - garden salad w/ chicken, egg & cheese
