Workout DVDs

Do any of you guys use workout DVDs at home? I have tried two different home programs:

Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds-- I have done the 1, 2, and 3 miles for this one. It is good, but I get bored...walking just gets a little old to me.

Richard Simmons' Sweating to the Oldies-- I like this one too, but it is just too complicated. You really need to learn the routines to get the most out of it, and they are not very easy.

So how about you guys? Anyone have any fun, not-too-complicated workout DVDs that make you sweat? Thanks for the input!

I sometimes do workout DVDs, but I also get bored haha.

the firm

The best workout tapes/dvd's I've ever done were the Firm! It's cardio plus weights, and your body literally shrinks! The Firm workouts are the best!

DVDs/Videos?!

Any one know of great ones that are great for beginners and advanced? Ones that you dont completely bored with right away.. lol

I read that alot of people do Carmen Electras Fit to Strip but what are some more??

Thanks!

I like the Biggest Loser. In the set up menu you can add the different workouts for your own unique workout.

For instance, You can select:
Warm up
low impact aerobic
cool down

Or
Warm up
high impact aerobic
bootcamp
cool down

Or
warm up
weight training
low impact aerobic
cool down

Or you could be like me and be crazy and try to do all of them at the same time. LOL

I personally love the Budokan series (you can get it at Target where the fitness equipment and videos are) and I love Gaiam's Cardio Pilates series. Think you might enjoy those. I've been tempted to try the Cardio Striptease one...I've heard great things about them and am personally a fan of Carmen Electra. The people who take Sheila Kelly's S Factor Striptease class in LA have KILLER BODIES (Teri Hatcher, Kim Catrall)...think you might enjoy the DVDs. Give 'em a shot!

I personally am a tae-bo fanatic, and denise austin has some good ones.I am a klutz though, and if I tried a striptease or dance video I would probably break something and casts aren't very sexy.:D

I like the Navy SEAL workout challenge. The name sounds a lot harder and intimidating than it is. It is just called that because the host is a former Navy SEAL. The pace is comfortable (he has more advanced tapes), the exercises are numerous and the host is great! I highly recommend this tape. You will laugh with the host and get into great shape with his total body workout. I used to use it a lot when I was in Army JROTC and I was in great shape at the time.

Excercise DVDs

A few days ago I received my first ever excercise DVD and have been trying it out over the weekend. I felt quite silly the first time, but I closed the curtains and got on with it, and I think it should do some good if I do it regularly and work hard during it.

For me though, I need the DVD to be fun to do... it must have a good soundtrack to work out to. It must also be "do-able" for somebody whose not in great shape, and anything requiring me to follow dance routines worthy of broadway is NOT for me!

So far I'm pleased with my own, and so I was wondering what DVDs others are using and what they think of them. Does anyone have a DVD they would like to recommend to others or advise people to stay away from?

The one I have just got is the Ministry of Sound "Pump It Up" DVD. It's set to dance music, so just my sort of thing. And atlhough I found a few of the moves in the dancing section are tricky to get the hang of, it's enjoyable to do and the "high energy" section really gets you moving. It also has a "bums and tums" section and of course the warm up and cool down bits. You can play it through or jump around to what you want to do.

I'd definately recommend this DVD to people who are into dance music. :)

Hey.......I have Denise Austin's *FAT-Blasting Yoga*it is way cool and fun as well..........the music ain't that happinin but once ya get the hang of the moves you could listen to what ever ya want i suppose, Ministry of Sound "Pump It Up" sounds good..........I will have to chex it out!

That's funny. I only buy DVD's because I hate going to the gym. Lately, I've been using Walk Away the Pounds. They have it for different miles. The good thing about it is that you are just walking but it adds different elements to give you a great workout like you do kicks and knee lifts and you use your arms, stuff you wouldn't do if you were just walking outside- that's why I like it, and it's completely doable. I was so out of shape and I started these, and I just promised myself to make it through at least a half mile then one mile, then I went to the two mile video and did the same thing.

i have done the walk away the pounds 1 mile. and now i LOVE the YOGA BOOTY BALLET "light and easy" dvd. its by beachbody. i only get to do half at a time though, my kids wont let me do 40 minutes at a time. still fun though. id recommend both of those.

i cant stand denise austin though.

I like Denise Austin's workouts - mostly because it's on TV when I wake up and it's doable for me. However - her personality makes me want to occasionally punch her in the face ;-) Especially during her commericals "I LOVE IDAHO POTATOES!"

I keep hearing good reviews on the yoga botty ballet is it easy to do steps because I am not cordinated at all lol I tried taboe years ago and I kicked over lamps and fell a few times lol not pretty.
I almost bought walk away the LBS because it was $10 I need and keep saying I am going to buy something and I haven't yet.

I really like Turbo Jam's cardioparty by beachbody. I think it's a good intermediate level aerobic DVD. I like the way Chalene presents her workout. She incorporated nice dancy music to go along with her workout. Most exercise DVD bores me to death. But this one has really kept my attention and keeps me going back for more.

The only down side is they do a lot of twist moves, so you have to be careful with your knees. I only do this workout every other day alternating with strength training.

You can read better reviews of it on this page:

Turbo Jam all the WAY!!

I have tried running, walking, elliptical, and every other exercise machine out there. Last year I purchased Turbo Jam which came with the two dvds

The first cd contains
-Teaches you the steps
-20 minutes for people crunched on time
-Turbo Sculpt

The second cd contains

-45 minute cardio party
-Ab Jam

LISTEN...I've lost 22 pounds and started doing it seriously in november! I eat 3 or 4 meals a day but healthy meals and seriously the results are out of this world. When I first purchased the dvds I didn't see results because I'd just go through the motions and was lazy with the kicks. Charlene hits it on the head when she says "It's what you put into it." In Novemeber i started doing the 20 minute mixed in with about 500 crunches a day. I began shedding pounds. Soon enough it wasn't enough for me so I started doing the 45 cardio party and it's such a good workout. I never noticed the TURBO SCULPT until about a month ago...This is when I've began to really shed the pounds. I'm getting compliments all the time and am absolutely loving how toned I'm getting. I do the sculpt 3 days a week and on those days I do the 20 minute workout as well. It's about an hour workout but the results are crazy. Alternate days I do the 45 minute cardio party with 15 minutes of jumping rope. I strongly advise you to try this before any other dvds, believe me I tried them all. In the beginning you might get frustarated but it takes time to learn the steps. It's fun, energetic, and the music rocks!!

Morning,

My favorite workout vids are Richard Simmons (he's the only instructor I've seen that has some obese folks in the workout, making you think, hey, if they can do it, certainly I can too!), most notably Sweatin to the Oldies 3. It really gets my heart rate up.

I also enjoy Tae bo and Turbo Jam as well.

There's a good forum for you might want to check out too. Lots of instructors are discussed.
