work out time

this may seem like a dumb question, but i really dont know too much about working out except that if you wanna lose weight you need to do it, lol. but anways, i was curious, if you work out for like 1 hour straight will it be more effective then working out like 20 mins at a time throughout the day? or would the results pretty much be the same, or worse or better? thanks!!!!

not only losing weight, working out helps u maintain a healthy lifestyle lol, its a lifelong habit :]

the thing about working out is:

when u do resistance training or weight training, ur building muscle by tearing up existing muscle tissues, whereas if you were doing cardio, ur burning calories/fat/muscle. one builds, other destroys**

you sound fairly new to the fitness world, so most people are in the gym least a hour or so. depending on what routines they do.

if u were in the gym for more than 2 hours, i'd say you probably do not know where your doing, and thus ur wasting ur time. &

the key factor to working out is also a healthy intake of food, u need to stop eating junk food and WATCH your caloric intake. depending on your body type = height/weight

and answering your question, 20 minutes, to 1 hour in the gym, it mostly depends on what work out routine your aiming for.

so what workouts are you planning on doing while your at the gym?

yeah im mostly talking about cardio type workouts. and i was wondering if it makes a difference if you work out all at once, like 1 hour a day. or if you work out 20 mins at a time a bunch of times throughout the day, so in the end it all adds up to one hour, but its just that you break it up so its not all at once. haha im bad at explaining, but would it make a difference at all? becuase i usually get tired or bored after not very long so its hard for me to do a lot at once.

cardio, 30 minutes - 3 times a week is sufficient :] mixed with a balanced diet and weight training
if you do cardio for too long, there maybe chances of muscle loss.

cardiovascular workouts refers to running/bicycling/stairclimbers,etc. I hope this clears up what you think cardio is lol.

if your bored of doing *normal* cardio, go for the High intensive interval training cardio, where you sprint for a minute or so at full pace & rest for a few minutes, and repeat. up to 30 minutes. tops. you will burn fat :] and this type of cardio is most effective at burning fat while avoiding loss of muscle mass.

2-3 times a week of HIIT is all the cardio u ever need :] in my opinion,
