i'm 5'5 and 103 pounds. i had to work really hard to get to that weight. i was about 98 a couple of months ago. i tried to get my dr to put me on a pill that would help me gain weight but he wouldn't. he told me to just eat poorly, burgars, shakes, all times of the day and night. so far it's working but i've got a belly now. so what next? do i start working out? will i lose the weight i gained already if i do? is cardio bad? should i weight train? my tummy hangs over my pants! i'm not used to that.

thanks in advance.

first off thats a great user name :)

second thats really sad and pathetic that your doctor told you to do that. yea, you'll gain weight alright along with compromising your health and developing a poor appearance.

start eliminating all those poor foods and replace them with better choices. meals should be based on complete proteins with healthy carbs and fats.

proteins: eggs, cottage cheese, milk, chicken, fish, turkey, lean red meat

carbs: oats, brown rice, veggies, fruits, whole grain breads, cereals and pastas

fats: olive oil, flax seed, natural peanut butter or almond butter, nuts

eat 5-6 meals a day roughly 3 hours apart. when you need more calories, increase servings sizes or add more meals. i'm up to 7 myself. ;) also liquid calories can help tremedously.

and start working out. alternate days of weight training and cardio. simple exercises with weights and something you enjoy doing for cardio.

Abear is right, follow his advice and your appearance will look much better in a short period of time.

I just wanted to chime in because your doctor is an IDIOT! Get another doctor, his advice was irresponsible and uncaring. What an ass! I just can't believe a doctor told you that. I'm glad you were smart enough to come to wiser people like us and get a second opinion instead of blindly following the doc's advice.

I like your username too. It took me a couple seconds to figure it out but it is cute.

thanks for the advice, and yeah, i thought his advice was a little crooked. so i got this trainer at the Y, and i'm gonna let him show me some things so i can get my tummy back.

thanks so much for caring. i'm glad i found you all! :D

you know, some people don't realize that mommy's can be cute too! do you believe that??

yea, i can see it. guy sees mom with baby and says, wow how cute.

mom looks at baby and says, thank you. guy looks at baby and says, oh yea the baby is too.

:D

Diet is even more important than exercise for getting rid of a belly. Abear knows what he's talking about - eating clean and whatnot.

I'm doing much better with my eating habits! However, I've dropped a couple of pounds as well. I don't have a lot of time to work out like I need to in order to maintain a healthy weight since I'm a full time student, mom of 3, with a husband over seas. So, now that I've lost the weight again, I'm back to square one I guess.

you got your eating habits in shape and thats good. its a start, just have to find your rhythm and get the training going. :)

BurgersShakes?

More Protein......lass cardio(maybe 12min post workout) and more weight training. this will add muscle, but keep fat from taking over.
