Will I lose muscle if I burn 1900 calories a day by running (cardio)?

I'm skinny, I just have belly fat. Will I lose muscle if I burn 1900 calories a day by running (cardio) only.

My BMR is 1600. I eat 1300 calories. My height is 5'9 and my weight is 138lbs and I take in a LOT of protein.

Will I still lose muscle

You have to run A LOT to burn 1900 kcals..
Will you have a deficit of 1900kcals? That's a very big deficit and would most likely cause muscle loss. How much do you weigh?

You're very light.. I wouldn't try to lose weight that fast if I were you. I don't know if I'd try to lose weight at all, but without a picture I can't really judge stuff like that.

If your BMR is 1300 kcals and you're exercising that much, then you should eat way more than 1300 kcals. BMR doesn't include activity or anything like that.. it's pretty much what you burn by sleeping, and doesn't include stuff like the energy it takes to digest food.

thats me. my BMR is 1600 and I only eat 1300 and burn 1900 by exercise only

So BMR+ Exercise = 3200 calories a day. But I do take in a lot of protein.

that looks weird.. probably a lot of visceral fat.

I wouldn't try to lose weight so fast. Go for a 500 calorie deficit each day. And how you're managing to burn 1900 by running is beyond me.. that's a lot of running every day. are you sure you've calculated it right?

I looked a little like that last year (Jan 09). Jumping rope might help with that. Try doing a little free weight and body weight training. Doing big muscle movements can indirectly work your abs.

isn't 1900 claories by running for a person of that weight like running non stop for 2.5-3 hours at a 11km/p-ish pace every day?

running is about 1kcal per kg bodyweight per kilometer. (one mile is about 1.6 kilometers)
That is if you're going straight ahead and not uphill, of course.

Hey- dino- I have that exact look with my stomach too- infact I am being refered to a gastoentreologist as a result of it.

I saw many doctors who all said different things, one said fat, (despite the fact that at the time I was actually full blown anorexic, BMI 15) another said IBS which I don't think it is- the pills advised did nothing, another said "it was normal" well I don't call being asked if I am 6 months gone normal! Another thought I was pregnant despite me saying I was not and packed me off for a scan... I even saw a personal trainer who told me it could not be fat, he was unable to pinch and move it in the same way fat could be pinched and moved. He was sure it was a parasite and to get a blood test done.
It was after this test I saw a locum who refered me to a gastoentreologist.

I would say go to your doctor, rule out anything serious, it does not look like fat it looks like what I have. It could be anything, a cyst, bloating from gas: do you eat alot of vegetables? am asking as if you are it could be your body trying to digest it and doing so very slowly. You see when you eat low amounts of calories, your body slows down everything it can to conserve these calories- it thinks there is a famine on. It also slows down its digestion. As a result your body holds onto not just every calorie it can, but every gram of food it can and does so very vividly.
You need to (if you are eating them) cut down on your veggies and fruit. Eat more complex carbs and protein to make sure your eating a balanced diet. Sleep well (8 hours) and always make sure you stretch well.

I am making guesses and assumptions here so do correct me if I am wrong but as it looks just so similar to me I'd say please go to the doctor, get a blood test, rule out any dietery problems like allergyes or intollerances, parasites, or deficiencies (apologies for the really bad spelling there!) but I don't think it looks like fat. Its normally more evenly spread around the abdomen (ie the back, the upper back, the chest) rather then soley the front of the stomach.

Hope you get somewhere with it.

That's a good post by summer. That thing looks very weird and it could definitely be a gastrointestinal problem.

I would also dare to say no normal person who's 5'9" has a BMR of only 1,600 calories. Maybe true BMR, but there's no way it includes "lifestyle".

As really, if you run 1,300 cals a day plus 1600 from BMR, your calorie needs for maintenance are 2,900 a day at the very least (even sitting at a computer desk for 8 hours burns calories above BMR... BASAL metabolic rate)
