I wasn't sure where to put this. Weight Loss seemed to be the most relevant place, but I'm thinking not just about weight loss but fitness in general.
I'm the sort of person who sometimes need a bit more stimulation to exercise. I do exercise fairly regularly, but not as regularly as I should, and I often go in spurts where I exercise a lot for a week or two and then almost not at all for a couple weeks. My main reason for not exercising is that it too often seems monotonous and a little boring. This is especially true in the winter when exercising outdoors is usually not practical. I'm very happy with my Concept2 rower, and when I can't exercise outside (i.e., I can't run because the sidewalks are all icy), rowing is my default exercise. However, although I enjoy rowing, it can get a little boring to do that everyday. FWIW, I tend to row for about thirty minutes at a time, rowing at about a 800-900 Cal/hour pace according to the ergometer.
Therefore, I'm thinking about getting a Wii Fit. Do I imagine it to be the best fitness tool ever invented? No. Do I think it will give me the best workout I could get? No. Do I think it would substitute for weights? No. But do I think it looks like a fun tool that could help me get in some beneficial exercises on days when I would otherwise find myself not feeling motivated to row? Yes.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this, given my situation?
