Why add friends?

I'm don't see what the advantages are in adding friends?
Can someone tell me what benefits are? thanks!

I have "friends" on the forum, but I haven't noticed a difference in function. It's just... a nice thing to do, I suppose?
 
I like it because when I want to PM one of my "friends" I don't have to hunt for their last post to get onto their profile. I already have them in my profile.
 
I generally find it easier to find the friend for pm by finding a recent post cause when i click on a friend's icon nothing comes up to say send pm.

I see no reason to have friends on this site but its nice to have them anyway and its flattering to be asked.

I think its because of the way this site operates that they are not really necessary here.

I wouldn't say its a weakness of the site though. I have another forum which uses the same forum format and i find the same thing over there.

Where as on my photoblog site, friends are absolutely necessary to be able to follow and keep in touch with other members who's photoblogs i am interested in. Otherwise you'd never find them ever again.

well another option is when you go to send a new PM, on the line where you type in their name, it automatically comes up with a list of names as you go...

like, if I were PMing you, I'd start to type "S-U-N...." and as I type each letter, usernames that match those letters pop up and when you see your friends name, just click on it.
 
But you're all my friends......
(or something....) ;)
