Hi All,
Today I bought a bikini. I live in Australia, on the Northern Coast and as the weather is coming into summer here I decided I would buy myself a bikini to make the most of it. Here, a size 16 is the biggest you can buy without going into plus sizes. Usually that allows me a nice fit and I can just take it home, but when I got home and tried it on, it just didn't cut it. My love handles and ass were falling out around the edges... A big downer after a bout of retail therapy.
I have been overweight since about 8 years old. I have kind of just dealt with it, never seen it as a particular problem because once I got past 15, I didn't really gain any weight, just stayed at around 85 kg. Doctors have suggested that I try lose some of it but that usually encourages me for about a week then I go back to my usual habits. It hasn't been considered a worrying health risk, as my cholesterol levels are low and I'm otherwise healthy.
I am currently just over 85kg, but since stopping going to uni and taking on a full time office job, I have lost a bit of muscle and gained a bit of fat, hence the bikini not fitting. Also, rich foods that I buy for lunch and dinner in my new job haven't particularly helped, but that is easily fixed now I have become aware of it, and I have started making and taking my own food to work.
I need some motivation, or even some suggestions to get me started. I'm not in this for the model-like body (even though that's what we all wish for), I just want to be able to feel fit and healthy and get down to a healthy weight. 70kg would suit me fine, even if it is on the heavier side of healthy. Suggestions on exercise regimes would be much appreciated...
If you have any questions or suggestions, please share! Also, I would like to get in contact with someone who would be willing to keep me accountable, check in with once a week that I can be honest about my habits to... None of my friends have weight problems so I don't really feel comfortable discussing it with them.
Thanks guys!
