Hello Everyone,

This group is about what really worked for you and how much weight you've lost so far.

Let's make the start date from Jan 1, 2008 to current. A clean slate for everyone, don't worry about last years problems. :smash:

Well for me, since Jan 1, 2008

I started drinking more water
I ate more green foods
I used Slendering
and I ate less processed foods

Old Weight: 285
Current Weight: 267
Goal: 160
 
I assume slendering is some diet pill? why on earth would you use oe o those if you are doing everything else right...

LOL Slendering is a natural supplement, I'm against diet pills!!!! It speeds up my metabolism, before I would do everything right and still not lose, but using it on top of doing the right thing is like magic.
 
What is working for me,

Went back to a Pure Vegetarian Diet
Cardio excersise with HIIT
Excersising 6x a week
Drowing myself in water (that is all I drink)
Three meals a day to rid myself of toxic hunger
No sweets
No caffine

What works great about this is I am never hungry, so there is no need to snack.

What is the best part is I have so much energy now. For instance, I have a cold (from touching something that some nasty person who didn't wash their hands touched), and it is barley there. And I'm not tired and have not taken any medication for it.

if it speeds up ur metabolism then its speeding up ur heart rate, so what makes that different from any other diet pill??

HARD WORK and DIET are the only 2 things that work in life

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but if you were doing everything right, you'd lose weight. If things are 'right,' your body has no choice but to shed the excess.... laws of nature and all that good shit, ya know.
 
Oh, and to answer the original post.....

The ONLY thing that has ever worked for me is consistent effort.

I'm a firm believer that once you look past all the the nitty gritty of the information out there about exercise and diet..... in the end, all that really matters is that you consistently put in consistent and sufficient effort more days than you don't.

The net will be progress.

Of course there are all the goodies like knowing how much energy you are consuming, doing the right exercises, etc.

But consistency is primary in my mind.
 
I agree with Steve.

What's worked for me:
- consistent effort (working out at the gym 6 out of 7 days of the week)
- drinking almost nothing but water
- making meat a side dish, NOT an entree (filling plate up with vegetables and other "good" foods which I make myself eat before the meat, so I'm less likely to chow down)
- switching from white bread to whole wheat
 
Maverick, the making the meat a side dish thing is a FANTASTIC idea......I never heard of that before....very clever

Making meat a side dish just helps me eat it in proper proportion to serving size...much better to eat one delicious juicy BBQ rib on the side and serve yourself a big mound of veggies than to eat 3 or 4 ribs and just give yourself a little scoop of the good stuff. :D

I'm a carnivore at heart, so I kind of make meat my "reward" for eating healthy stuff I'd really rather not eat, like squash and broccoli. (I HATE broccoli and squash...)

I've also found that whatever you restrict actually tastes better than if you pigged out on it, because you slow down to savor the taste and experience.

As far as working out goes, I was trying to work out 7 days out of the week, but there's always one day where it's more difficult than usual - either I'm really sore, or I sleep in and don't get enough stuff done, or the gym is really busy and I don't feel like jostling for position on weights or machines.

No gym day usually falls on my cheat day, where I eat one meal of whatever I want (within reason). But even on the days I don't go to the gym, I still do a few sit-ups, push-ups, lunges, that kind of thing, just to keep in habit.

That's one thing I forgot to mention that works for me: "commercial" exercise. When I'm just lounging around doing nothing (which is a lot of the time because I'm a Leo and naturally very lazy :eek:) whenever a commercial comes on, I do either 5 push-ups or 20 sit-ups. It really adds up and helps build my stamina overall.

1. Never missed breakfast, 2 eggs with veggies (90% of the time)
2. Dropped my food intake in half for lunch and dinner. For dinner I only eat piece of fruit or veggies.
3. Eat more healthy food.
4. Never eat after 6pm.
5. Avoiding bread as much as possible.

I ate right and exercised 5-6 days per week...

drank 1-1.25 gallons of water and counted calories...

Original weight 300lbs
current weight 172lbs.

For the third time it's not a diet pill, it has no caffein or drugs, it's a fiber, which is beneficial to your body and health and helps me get over that slump.

The title is What works for you not what others think you should do.

current weight: 187

Thru sensible and reasonable amount of calories and exercise, which primarily was walking and strength training...

Fiber is easy to get thru food alone - you do not need a supplement...
 
Slendering...

I have lost quite a bit of weight, but have slowly watched some of it creep back on...was actually thinking of trying Slendering, just to jump start my loss and am currently using Weight Watchers. It has been working, lost 5lbs so far, but have 40 to go.
