what do you do?

Weights are also good for the bones -- or so I've heard.

Steve,

I've got a question. Generally when you work a muscle such as the bicep, aren't you also supposed to work the opposite muscle such as the tricep? That's what I've always read anyway.

According to Jeremy's workout schedule, he's not doing it that way, so that's why I'm asking.

i do not do biceps and triceps on the same day. but when working triceps your biceps are worked secondarily and same vice versa. but you gotta remember one is to push and one is to pull. and if you did them both the same day and pushed them hard u'd be dead the next and ur arms would be useless.

but thats my thoughts. dissect it as u ay....

Pairing agonist with antagonist muscles is certainly one way of structuring a routine. It is not the only way.

That said, if I had to pick the least effective 'way' to train, it'd be one part per week training. That philosophy simply doesn't match how our bodies respond to training in terms of stress and recovery.

Can you explain this please?

A push/pull routine is probably the most popular/useful way of structuring a program you'll find, IME.

not going to explain because whatever anyone does that is what "steve" thinks they should do is wrong.

do your thing, im not looking for advice from you. this person asked what you do. so i posted it.

Oh brother....

That's about the lamest thing I've seen on this forum since Balldez.

Next time let's not make this something personal.

Mkay?

Thanks.

I'm about as open minded as they come when it comes to training. That said, I will certainly question things I see when they go against the basic concepts of human performance and adapation. Call me crazy, but that only seems normal. You have no idea about my training philosphies if you think otherwise.

Please don't disrespect everyone Jeremy. It's cool to take shots at me. I would too, if I were in your shoes. It must suck.

That said, believe it or not, the people of this forum CAN read. Beyond that, they take things one step further than you..... they can even comprehend.

So no need to backpedal in the post to prove a point. If you would have carried out the conversation based on the topic at hand, people would have learned something.

Do I know everything about everything?

Hell no. Never claimed to either. I could get schooled on more topics than not.

Do I know enough about fitness to speak as an authority on the subject......

By your standards I guess not. But we can't all be as well-versed as you.

What I do

Well... let's see... plain and simple:

I do the following:
- weight train (machines and free weights)
- various types of cardio at the gym: Arc Trainers, Ellipticals, Recumbent Bikes
- grappling, muay thai kickboxing
- home DVDs: turbo jam, winsor pilates, step aerobics
- brisk walking (30 mins twice a day or 45 mins... 60 min... doing interval training)
- dance (choreograph as well as other stuff)
- mind workouts: I read... and poke silly monkeys with sticks and bats... oh and I roam my hood to get my gangsta on

All in all, I'm always changing it up, so I don't get bored and my muscles don't get used to just one type of workout. Good luck....

-Sheryl

I don't hate...

I love Jeremy. His personality is terrific!!!!

:hug2:

That's a happy hug from me to you G!

Here's what I do...

Morning,

Assuming I'm alive and kicking and not comatose from the 48 hour cold, this is what I do:

Monday - Upper body weight lifting, free weights and circuit training.

Tuesday - 50-60 minutes treadmill cardio at various speeds/inclines

Wednesday - Beloved 2.4 mile circle walk, pushup day, ab day

Thursday - Upper body weight lifting, free weights and circuit training.

Friday - 50-60 minutes treadmill cardio at various speeds/inclines

Saturday/Sunday - DDR with the kids

I have a big doorknob on my femur, so I cannot do lower body workouts nor the elliptical. Wah. Hopefully come 2008, that will change.

This workout isn't engraved in stone - today, for example, is the first day I've felt stronger than a newborn mouse, so I did my circle walk instead and will be going downstairs to my weights and adding in some weight lifting. I missed two whole days of working out this week due to intense illness.

I'd like to chime in on what everyone else has said - what works for me might not work for you. Everyone has their own optimal way of exercising/dieting...it's up to you to test things out, get educated on what's available and create your own program. Getting advice on these forums is a super way to start.

Best wishes,

Barbara

Its not hard to sense an animosity towards Steve from Jeremy.

Regardless of rather or not Steve should have stated his own opinion in an open forum to no one in particular. Is beside the point.

Once, it came to personal attacks. It became completely idiotic. Now, I have only seen one person share their feelings on the others character...
