Hey all!
The way I see it is if you eat right and stay active the weight shouldnt even be an issue.
I have lived in Japan for nearly 10 years now, and on each visit to places like the states or australia the first thing I notice is how most food is judged based the serving size rather than the actual quality, this is such a fundemental part of the problem. To quote one instance, I was in San Clemente last December, now living in Japan my appetite is quite small, unless I have a mammoth surf sesh, so not feeling too hungry at 7am I went to this little cafe beach place and asked what is the lightest meal they have on offer. they told me it was the breakfast burito, so I ordered it, expecting a 3-4 bite sized meal that would set me up for the surfing ahead, when it came however it was huge, I ate only about a third before I was feeling stuffed, the thing was delishious, but jammed full of egg and cheese, which made it super heavy in my stomach! my 3 mates ordered the big breakfast and on our table sat enough food to feed a sumatrian villiage for a week. It is time to change our mindset people, go for what you need in a meal, not only size of servings verses the price, making that kind of deal is eventually paid for by your body!
Before coming to Japan I would eat a big steak most nights, drive that extra 20mins to get that jumbo $5 burger, nowadays its veggies, sushi, chicken and cereal that make up my diet... my energy levels are peaking, my weight is way down and I feel great!
I urge everyone to change that mindset, forget the bargin style of eating and focus on what you really need for your body to perform each day!
peace
