Let me introduce myself!

Hi!
San Diego Native
31 yrs old
Married with one daughter (16 mos old)
Starting weight: 197; Goal Weight: ~120
Current weight: 137

I'm on a roll. And I'm not talking about a dinner roll. In December of 05' I weighed in at a whopping 197 lbs 2 days before I delivered my first daughter. On a 5'2" frame, I had gained 42 lbs during my pregnancy. I had it. I had an "I had it" moment. And I've been dropping inches and lbs ever since.

I just kicked up my fitness by joining the gym. Since then I've lost 5.5 lbs. I usually weigh in on Mondays... and today is Saturday, so I may have lost more. I have been spending at least 6 hours in the gym every week so far and maybe more.

I came here for some more support than what I have been getting, however, I've been getting support in every direction I look.

Perhaps I can be a beacon of light for people who have 60+ lbs to lose... cuz I did it! and I'm doing it. By the time I'm done with my weight loss, I'll have lost nearly 90 lbs!

I'm not nearly done yet, so I'm looking for ideas and challenges.

Hi everybody! I'm 28 and from Australia. Want to lose 30 kg (how many pounds is that?). Kicked a choc addiction 9 weeks ago and lost 6 kg so far. Love this site and everyone on it; you all sound so motivated and friendly. I hope we'll all share many good times and success stories.

Hugs to everyone!!!

new member looking for support

Hi!

I am so glad to find this forum today! I am one week into my "getting fit again" effort. I was very fit most of my life but with age and emotional setbacks in life, I have not taken good care of the weight and nutrition issues.

My peak weight has been 194.5 (okay...195) pounds. Wow. Hard to even type those numbers here. But I KNOW how valuable support groups are to hanging in there.

My goal is somewhere between 127 & 141 (according to weight chart I saw earlier today, and my own "best weight" when I was fit before).

Although I know I should be motivated to do this for myself, I admit that it took a man who I have been interested in (and whom I believe is interested in me) to say, "You are too pretty to be overweight". I know this is a deal-breaker for a long-term relationship with him. He initially asked if I would take care of this issue...for myself. But then, he did add after some thought, "do it for me, would you do it for me...and for you"? That was a challenge but an honest and caring one.

So here I am. I've been successful in the past and pray to God I will be again...truly for myself. But of course, there is incentive with a man whom I believe will share the rest of my life.

One week of healthy eating (no desserts, no soda), snacking healthy in between meals, etc. Started back at the club...and yes, I have lost 1.5 pounds....healthy beginning.

But I feel like I am at the bottom of the Himalayas looking up...and asking for reassurance...that I will make the goal. (50+ pounds should take about 6 months.) Anyone on the same path as I am???

THANKS MUCHO for a REPLY!

keepitup!?

Hey all,

I'm new to this site, but definitely not new to weight loss! I'm a nutrition major who doesn't like to follow her own advice :p I could definitely use a little support while I try to lose this weight (for the second time). Here are my stats...

Height- 5'6"
Current weight- 170 lbs
Highest weight- 185
Lowest weight- 137
Goal weight- 130

So I guess that's it... hope to join the family here!:)

Hi,

I have been on a diet during the last 5 years. Well, I have been trying to. I'm not so self- disciplined so I haven't trained so much as I should have. But I have read many books about being on a diet, and that have really worked. How to eat right and combine alla the ingredients in the right way. I've lost a lot of weight just to eat healthy. But I want to loose more weight, so I wonder how I can train, so I don't fall into this lazy mood? What exercises do you recommend to a lazy woman?

I am having trouble getting my ticker to show up in my posts.... also.... and I know this is stupid.... HOW do I start a thread?

I am having trouble getting my ticker to show up in my posts.... also.... and I know this is stupid.... HOW do I start a thread?

check the thread on tickers for help on that.

To start a new thread

Go into the appropriate topic, hit the new thread button

give your thread a descriptive title and add the text..

then press the Submit new thread button

Yikes! I have to do this again!

It's awful to have been successful in the past, but the old habits slip back in and you gain it back. I did, anyway. A few times. OK. More than a few.

But I guess the idea of this is to stop beating myself up (not that there's anything wrong with that) and start off fresh with a good attitude.

I'm here for some good ideas and motivation and look forward to getting both from this site.

I think rather than doing any weird fads and certainly not pills, it would be better to do it slowly and sensibly.
Cut down on fats
Eat more vegs and fruits
Eat lean protein and less carbs
EXERCISE

I guess it's all uphill from here.

What is HSA

Here is my knew bee intro:

"It's not social anxiety... just Heightened Social Awareness". It is my 'HSA' that actually brought me here today. I actually have a degree in Exercise Science and Health. Ironic, yes? Well, all was going great and I was going to change the world by showing people they could lose weight and empower them through exercise when my body failed me. By 25, my second back surgery caught up with me. I stopped training for triathalons and kept eating (I assume). Add two beautiful kidlets and here I am. Still moderately to very active, still 30 lbs over my goal weight, still in my twenties, and wondering why it won't drop. In the past, all I had to do was watch my diet and start up a running program. Now, if I want my spine to last, I am cursed with no high impact exercise which for me = boring. I spin, cycle, occasionaly break my rule and do step. So, I figure with all my "education" the reason I am failing is because of lack of support, competition (once an athlete, always an athlete) and the evil of emotional eating.

Not exactly short intro material, but enough hopefully to get people to notice me. Call me out on dropping the ball! The plan is to always post something whenever I get hungry or a sweet craving- so you'll be seeing me oft! Here, gulp, are my stats:

28 years old (female)
176 lbs
5'6"
Haven't measured in a while, but I carry my weight in my boobs (good for hubby) and my lovely hip fat.
Moderately to very active
Healthy eater (whole grains, fruit, veggies)

hi HSA
when an athelete stop doing exercise there is better chance of gaining weight than normal person(i think so)because his/her body already addicted to reserve high metabolites due to high BMR.
That might be the reason behind gaining weight .....i personally feel diet regulation ould help u as there is no other choice
good luck

New member with a tip about H20

Hi Everyone,

I am really trying to lose 8-10 pounds by the end of June. It has been quite hard for me....excerising is NOT my issue. Food is. As I get older, it is amazing how little food your body really needs. Often times I think I am hungry when really I am thirsty (sometimes it's hard to tell the difference). I hate drinking plain water. I did find this new product that has been VERY effective in getting me to drink at least 48oz. more a day. Water Sensations is a clear liquid flavoring that you squeeze into your water (NO calories, sugar or carbs....and I like best....NO preservatives!). It comes in great fruit flavors and it doesn't overpower, it just really makes the water taste delicious enough to guzzle it all down and even want more! It's also a bit of a treat becuase the fruit flavors taste so good. I got mine at both Target and Kroger. Also, the website is good, too

Back to being good with food and making sure I drink plenty of water!!!!

Hi HSA MOM,
I'm 28 too and like competition like yourself! I also have experienced social anxiety before so I can imagine what you're going through. It's a pity your back is preventing you from doing all the sports you love. Have you thought about taking up competitive swimming? Here in Australia, swimming stars are like gods. It would take the pressure off your back and would also allow you to put in some hefty exercise for all those big muscles, not to mention your heart! I think swimming has so many different varieties that it would be impossible to get bored too; there are so many elements you have to co-ordinate, like breathing, posture, stretching the torso and rolling your head right. I also think it gives women the best looking body of any exercise and I'd personally love to do more of it to give me wider shoulders and a smaller waist!

I hope your journey to your personal weight loss goal is a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening one. Look forward to seeing more of you on the boards!

Ciao =)

I've done a lot of exercise before, but after starting studying by the University I don't have the time anymore. Then i realized how easy it is to gain weight.
I think the problem is that you are used to eat what you want and how much you want, but that doesn't work when you stop exercising.

Get Lose Weight Quick Scams Revealed!

May 12th 2007

From the desk of Jane Beuik(Senior reviewer)

Wouldn't it be nice to lose to the fat quickly, with minimal effort? and i wear the jean size you always wanted? Of course it would. I for one would love to have more time to spend with my kids my husband, without anyone looking at my weight.

Whether it's going on a diet plan, taking pills, going to the gym, or something else, we've seen the fantastic claims people make about getting the weight off in no time, AND how they can say you can lose this amount of weight in a few day. I can tell you right now that 99% of these people are total frauds. You may have even fallen prey to one of these scam artist, selling you thier latest " Lose Weight Quick Program". Me too, I've bought so many of these programs that i can't even recall how many. I don't know why but i tend to find the "good" in people, and i was "sold" by these marketing schemes time and time again, being scammed by another,Finally, after so many disappointments, I got FED UP. I decided to get this fascination and find out if there were and LEGITIMATE programs for loseing weight.

I literally contacted the administrator of every lose weight/diet website I could find. Buying more Lose Weight Quick Programs."Well, I was disgusted with 99% of what I found. Many of the owners actually boasted about how many people bought there useless lose weight/diet programs, I repeatedly found:

*outdated information
*non-working links
*no help section
*link leading to other sites that asked for more money
*no real email support

I quickly realized that this so- called Lose Weight programs were totally useless, and the owners knew it yet they were laughing all the way to the bank! Needless to say, I didn't respond when they asked If I was still interested in buying their diet program, Surprisingly, while shifting through all of the scam artists' websites, I was able to locate a couple of individuals that actually ran legitimate programs.

The owners were every day people like you and me that found away to melt away body fat permanently without muscle loss and without using drugs or unnecessary supplements with FREE Updates for life! Their programs were impressive, with a good amount of quality information used by The World's Best Bodybuilders and Fitness Models. It was like I found a few diamonds in the rough. But don't take my word for it, you can visit the 2 sites I found below, See what you think.

They do charge a minimal fee for access to their program, which is to be expected for any legitimate companies that actually had people on staff who are dedicated to helping you get started, What a friendly group of people! Anyways, if you do decide you are interested in either of the two programs below, I advise you to join quickly, as the owners have informed me they are getting so many new members by word of mouth referrals, they will be increasing the membership completely in the next 2 days.(By the way you didn't hear this from me!)

Well my search for legitimate Loseing Weight has come to an end. I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed with most of what I found, and I strongly advise that you do not take chances joining any programs other then the two listed below! Whatever you do, I wish you a healthy, prosperous year for you and yours.

All the best.
