Weight Training + Jump Roping

Would it help at all if i jump roped and then did my weight training or would it make no difference?

Also, can anyone explain some different ways to jump rope and techniques for instance jumping on your toes or heels? i under stand toes will make your calves stronger but what about your heels?

I always like to warm up before working out. I think jump ropping is perfect, because you have to keep form while jumping or else you'll mess up. About jumping on your heels, i think that is horrible. If possible land on your toes and then roll down to your heels. Landing on your heels puts a lot of shock on your joints especially your knees. Like in rappelling, you never land on your heels or else you'll receive injuries. I would land on your toes to make it an even better warm up.

once you get good at jumping rope (if you aren't already) you will find that you are always on your toes. As for different things, there are a huge number of them.
- standing still
- light jog
- turning
- doubles
- cross-overs
- side-to-side
- forward & backward
.. have fun

Yeah, i haven't had much experience with jump ropping, but i think it's great for some reason. I run at lease 3 miles before lifting weights. I'm not sure if that's bad or anything. If anyone can enlighten me then that would be cool.

No problem jumping rope and lifting weights. You can do both in the same workout for a killer cardio workout.

Try 1 min jump rope
front squats x5
snatches x10
clean and press x 5
1 minute of jump rope

do 4-6 rounds of this with only 30 sec rest in between (or no rest if you can)...You'll be hurting.
