Weight Loss Tea Good or Bad

I share the same opinion as many of the previous posts....

- No such thing as weight loss tea (you will lose weight if you switch to tea from soda's full of sugar and High Fructose Corn Syrup)

My view on tea and how it fits into the whole weight loss equation:

Incorporating tea into your diet or day to day routine is great if it prevents you from consuming "bad stuff" such as soda's or even store bought orange/apple juice (which is also filled with sugar).

For instance, I like to have a drink with my meals so drinking something healthy like green tea or Perrier water is great because it replaces the unhealthy alternatives.

I made it a habit and now the only liquid calories I consume is vodka and and the occasional cold beer after soccer or at the lake :)

hi my name is harrysom,i am new in this forum.i suggest you that black tea is very efffective for weight loss.

I've been reading your posts and its very concerning to me. You don't seem to have any real knowledge on weight loss. If I were you, I"d read up more and give out advice alot less.

How does green tea help in weight loss?

Green tea has countless health benefits and it is also very effective in the weight loss process. The food that we eat is converted in to a jelly like substance in our liver and intestine which is also knows as triglyceride and this substance serves as a source of energy for our body but the excess of these triglycerides make us fat and can make us prone to various diseases.

The polyphenols and caffeine contained in green tea trigger our nervous system to release fat cells in to our blood stream so that they can be burned and used as source of energy. This natural process is commonly known as thermogenesis and it provides extra energy to our body and keeps us active throughout the day

Wait what?? Sorry but this is just the first time I heard anyone say that the food we eat is converted into a jelly in our liver and intestine..Food never goes into the liver. Blood does.

In the human body, high levels of triglycerides in the bloodstream have been linked to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and, by extension, the risk of heart disease and stroke. However, the relative negative impact of raised levels of triglycerides compared to that of LDL:HDL ratios is as yet unknown. The risk can be partly accounted for by a strong inverse relationship between triglyceride level and HDL-cholesterol level.

In other words, triglycerides is more of a concern for high cholesterol..not so much for fat. Weight gain is cause too many calories taken in and not enough burned.

Sorry, but I think you have your information very mixed up. Green Tea does have some advantages but it's no magic pill.

Oh course..based on your information in your profile..somehow I am expecting less real info and more sales pitches.

Green tea is the best weight loss Tea as green tea extract boost metabolism and help burn fat. Some substances present in ngreen tea are responsible for fat burning effects.

yeah, weight loss tea has always made me feel kinda sick. Usually bad headaches, and never ever helped me lose. And I so hoped it would! Oh well! Live and Learn.

I think that because weight loss is such a hot topic among so many men and women, any sort of gimmick or product that hints at the smallest bit of slimming evidence will be picked up by marketers and promoted as the next best "miracle cure". What i'm really saying is: Tea might have been just something to drink for people passing time, it might have had some minuscule slimming effect, but it's just been made larger than life by marketing experts for profit. Drink tea for enjoyment, nothing more.

"Weight gain is cause too many calories taken in and not enough burned."

Sorry, it burns my chaps to see this over and over. I counted calories for over 12 months. I was and am an avid researcher on weight loss, and was very very strict in my counting, recording of data, and yes, I exercised. I am also, but not alone, living proof that this is NOT true of everyone. Sometimes the body gets so far out of balance, for a thousand different reasons, that it just can't deal with whatever you put into it. At that point simply cutting back will not work for many. In fact, new research is showing it's far more to do with the pancreas, and if you give it the chance to repair, it will. Anyways, there I go getting all passionate again. : ) Z

My wife started drinking Wyui Ooolong tea 2 weeks ago. This tea is suppose to boost your metabolism and supposedly people have had great results from this particular type of tea. After 2 weeks my wife has yet to see any results. My sister-inlaw is also drinking the tea. Not sure what she has discovered yet. My wife and I eat a healthy diet and walk 3 miles everyday and play with kettlebells. We are not obese and it's difficult to lose the extra 10 pounds for her. My sister-inlaw is a different story. She may get good result. I will keep this post advised as changes happen.

Sorry, but no. There is no physical way that you are in a caloric deficit and don't lose weight. It's simple science. There isn't a single medical condition that can make you put weight in in spite of a caloric deficit. There are medical conditions that can make you retain water and other fluids, there are conditions that will make it more difficult to lose weight, but I do not believe that somebody would add weight, or not lose weight, in spite of exercise and a blanaced diet that puts them under maintenance calories. It really IS that simple.

I think that a lot of people who claim they counted their calories, exercised and made sure they burned more calories than they ate are guilty of one of two things...

1) Poor mathematics

2) Lying

Denial isn't going to help anybody lose weight. If you eat a 450 calorie bowl of ice cream, you can't lie to yourself and round down to 400. Jogging 3/4 of a mile isn't jogging a mile. Having "only one" glass of pop a day isn't the same as not drinking it at all. "Close enough" isn't the truth, especially when it comes to weight loss. And, if you give yourself anything but the truth when you count calories, you are in denial and you are lying to yourself.

Personally, I believe a lot of people are just in denial. They sit there and lie to themselves and, even though they know that they're lying to themselves, they try to convince the world that their lack of weight loss isn't their fault. It's always something else - it's never ther own fault.

Me? I'm fat because I'm lazy, I eat like crap and I don't work hard enough to lose weight. Not because of anything else. Nobody is fat because the world is out to get them. People are fat because they make bad choices and eat like hell. And, nobody is going to lose weight until they own up to their own mistakes and change their ways.

There are good and bad side effects of weight loss teas. But tea specifically green tea has been clinically proven to have thermogenic properties - aids in burning fats and weight loss.
The only side effect from green tea as aid in weight loss is the caffeine content. If you are sensitive to caffeine obviously you can get negative caffeine side effects.

Could you point me to a study of the clinical trial or some other credible source that has info about this 'thermogenic property' in green tea that aids burning fats? I would really love to see that.

In addition, caffeine is usually not a problem in green tea, since it contains only rather small amounts - much less than coffee, or even a can of caffeinated soda.

:iagree: 100%. And I am the same way. I'm fat because I'm lazy abd because I make bad food choices. I can't get my arse off the couch at the moment, and I'm stuffing my face. That's why. It's got nothing to do with the world, or with anybody else. Just me. And as soon as I stop doing this, I'll get back to losing again. It's just a matter of a good kick up my own arse.

Try blending some fruit and veggies in a blender (like a vitamix or other high speed blender) when you're eating. Your cravings for the "bad for you foods" will soon diminish and the quality of nutrition that you are ingesting will aid in melting the fat off of you. Just saying :)

I've got a blender. Used it twice. You know, if you want a chocolate bar, having some meshed up fruit just doesn't do it. The only time that fruit could take care of any cravings would be if I was craving fruit in the first place. And that kind of never happens.

I found link for you to check out concerning "thermogenic properties' of green tea: http://www.nature.com/ijo/journal/v24/n2/full/0801101a.html Good luck.. :)

Hello,

I have to make my opinion about green tea in a process of dieting. Green tea can be used and recommended to use every day, not just for a weight loss process, but for detoxification as well.

Green tea, but also caffeine, capsaicin are chemical substances that have thermogenic properties. This substances increase metabolic rate, burning more calories and increases energy levels.
