2-3 weeks only? And your boyfriend says its not fast enough. Hmm, what were your expectations?

Anyways If you are thinking about Hoodia, the main part that it would help you with is suppressing your appetite so you eat less and if you think that you are already eating less, then I dont think it would help you much.

Thats my 2 cents.

Very often, what's the most dangerous is not the pill, which is typically made up of caffeine, green tea, and some harmless trace elements you could probably get by eating a handful of dirt.

Hahaha... love it. I'd eat dirt if it'd help me lose weight :jump:

I have been taking Hydroxy Cut off and on now for a few months. the only thing it does for me is gives me a little boost of energy. I still have no problem eating on them, they will curb my appitete if I'm not around food but if I just cooked dinner I'm going to eat. I have tried Hydroxy, Hoodia, Trimspa, Dexatrim and a whole bunch of others. I am like I would eat dirt if I thought it would make me lose weight. The only way I can lose weight is by consistly exercising and eating around 1200 calories (that's the right amount for my size and weight to lose). Diet pills do make people extremely cranky and edgy. So if you are sensitive to medications you may just want to start out on just one pill. I have a very high tolerance and I still can't take more than two or three in a whole day.

Diet pills just scare me. Why add something into your body if you don't really know what it is and what it does? Maybe they work, maybe they dont. If they work, what are they doing to your body in order to work? That to me, is the scary part.

Hot Rox

I think if you're going to take a supplement, you should research the ingredients in it.

I JUST started taking "Hot Rox" yesterday, but not to just make me lose weight, that would be naive and the wrong way to go. I take it an hour before i work out to give me a boost of energy so i push myself during workouts.

I read up on all the ingredients and if taken at the recommended doseage, Hot Rox is perfectly safe. If you take too much, your body can't handle the caffeine and you may get an ulcer, or other bad side effects. I'm going to stick to 1-2 a day. It says take 2-4. so yeah.

I'll let you know if i have any side effects though, and what my review is on them after a few weeks.

If you're not planning on losing many kilos ( 20 or more ), then i would suggest forget about pills, just search on the net for healthy foods and do exercises on a daily basis.

Diet Pills

How do you guys feel about diet pills, such as corti slim, NV, Hoodia, etc.. to help with weight loss. Is there any truth to the claims of increased fat loss with the pills along with healthy diet and exercise versus without the pills?

Just wondering.......

Thanks!

I really do not see advantages to taking weight loss pills. Even when taking it they recommend exercise and eating healthy...so why not do both minus the pill itself. Plus, the data found from individuals who take these pills v. people who do not have shown to find inconclusive results. Therefore, there is no proof that they actually work. Not only can it not be guranteed but the health risks are just not worth it. I think you would be fine without them, plus, they're kind of expensive, eh?

Most of these diet pills are nothing more than concentrated caffeine. They're a waste of money. And they don't really teach you anything about dealing with your weight problem.

And they don't really teach you anything about dealing with your weight problem

That's the biggie to me. What is the point of taking them (even if they do work & I am not convinced they do,) if you are just going to gain the weight back afterwards?

I have never taken any diet pills. I know some people have had luck with hoodia, it seems to be a big thing these days, but I don't know anything about any other pill

i had tried hydroxicut hardcore pills for a week and i had to stop i would get the worst stomache aches and i would feel dizzy at times...

Any diet pills that contain stimulants that I've ever taken has made me feel yucky.

The only one that didn't contain any stimulants and seemed to help control my appetite was one of the hoodia products.

But from what I understand alot of hoodia products don't contain pure hoodia but have mostly fillers....which would be a big waste of money.

I agree.

I agree that it is so important to know what you are taking if you decide to start taking magic diet pills. There are SO many out there!!

I just spent a few hours yesterday researching one that I have been using called "Xcellerator" that claimed to be all natural and all herbal, so I went through the list of ingredients and read about what each one was, and how it would play a part in my weight loss and energy. I found out it is a great mix of herbs and I find the benefit in using it to boost my workouts or to get me going on days that I want to stray from the excercise plan. But if I didn't do the research I might not know the total benefit it offers....or the warnings associated with each ingredient.
Do your homework!!

There are no shortcuts, permanent weight loss requires exercise and eating sensibly for life. There are no "magic" pills, if they did work they would pass muster in the New England Journal of Medicine or other peer reviewed journals. All these fad diets hide the fact that they rely on diminished calorie intake, a calorie is a calorie, doesn't matter where it comes from. A lot of these plans produce sensational results with 2 weeks because you lose water and/or muscle, losing more than 2 lbs. per week is unhealthy.

Bottom line is, you don't need diet pills. If you cut calories and exercise, you will lose weight. The many people you hear from on this site will be able to assure you, you don't need the pills.

I lost about 30 lbs over a 3 month period a few years ago. I didn't take diet pills, but I did start taking vitamins because I wanted to be sure I wouldn't miss any nutrients. And that's what I would focus on: making sure that you're getting all the nutrients you need. For example: do you know what omega-3 oils are, and are getting enough of them in your diet? I'd focus on stuff like that as opposed to the pills.

Ever notice how all these "magic pills" say in the fine print, "Particpants in the study all lost weight when taking SuperDuperSlim 500, when coupled with diet and exercise."?

Guess what? You can eat chocolate cake and lose weight, if you couple it with diet and exercise.

Tom - I just had to respond to your comment about the chocolate cake. You made me laugh!

Hmmm... Do you think we could create a chocolate cake diet?

In a way, they have. Look at all the diets that are based on a single food group - the cabbage diet, the grapefruit diet, and even Atkins. They all hide the plain facts of energy balance with the "magic' of a "special" food.

Jeez... My sister and I went through the whole diet pill trend. I was at 225# and my baby sister was about 200#. Unfortunately for me, it didn't do a darn thing for me. Instead it screwed up my liver, so now I have to go in and get checked from time to time. My baby sister on the other hand, lost a LOT of weight and might I add hair and tooth density as a result? Not only that, being that she lost the weight so quickly, her mind wasn't capable to catch up with reality. In other words, she still saw herself as being "horribly fat." (Weight loss and psychology.. awesome topic.) As time went on, she realized she couldn't depend on them and decided to take care of herself the right way: exercise and a healthy diet. Sure.. she gained a little bit back, but kept on with it and is doing great now. I'm just doing it the natural way also: veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean meats and cardio/ weight training.
