Weight Loss Journey for Feeling Gooder

At times it can be... our fridge has a pull out drawer at the bottom and when it's really full it's tough to close :willy_nilly:

Slept in this morning but still made time to get meals for the day and got out the door at a reasonable time. Made it to work on time but now I'll need to figure out another way to get exercise into my daily routine as driving to work threw off my plan to get another decent walk in.

You could sprint back from the fridge and hurdle the couch...do a perfect high jump move over the coffee table and use the recliner for a landing mat!

Ok maybe not.

I think that after you stay on plan for awhile exercise becomes more and more important. You get into good enough shape that you exercise much longer and more vigorously which alows you to eat more and keeps you from going too crazy. If you are running 2 or 3 miles you can get away with the cheeseburger (my weakness food, subsitute yours here) once in a while.

Also it seems for you (and I), adjusting exercises and revamping the plan every few weeks helps.

Have you thought how great you will look and feel by summer if you keep this up? Powerful thoughts

Keep kickin ass my friend

Thanks Brawny,

I've given the future version of me a little thought, mostly comes in the form of remembering what it was like a few years back. Planning for upcoming events like a 5k run and obstacle course run (planning on doing a spartan race event some time this year) helps motivation as well.

Switching up the routine and attempting more and more short term challenges are also a big help. Keeps the focus away from it being a purely changing eating habits approach and I get a little more positive feedback from my body every time I notice small improvements.

Hoping to see some decrease in body fat % on this week's weigh in. Hopefully the strength training and continuing to avoid any big pitfalls on the eating results in a decrease. Would be nice to make it to 264.8 lbs by the end of the month to round out 30 lbs in January but don't really think I'll make it although Tuesday used to be my best day for weighing in for some reason. Probably due to my historically bad eating over the weekend and the resulting shock on Monday at actually having to move again...

Managed to get in 100+ pushups and crunches into my evening last night and since I missed out on my walk during the day managed to walk a mile at a brisk pace on the treadmill.

Meals have been good this week. Going to tempt fate by hitting a restaurant over lunch but will be looking for the healthy option while I'm there. Have to start living again at some point or else this entire journey is heading for a relapse.

Planning to lower food intake on other meals to compensate somewhat... will see how it goes.

Good luck on your weigh in.

Hope the restaraunt monster didnt get ya.

Currently I am avoiding restaurants because he would get me I bet

Good luck with the restaurants! I've read that after a bad meal you have 24 hours to compensate for it. So, keep that in mine ;)

Restaurant didn't get me much... had a bison burger with mushroom onion, cheese and a big salad. Left half the bun off and no mayo and no beer, could have been much worse.

Finished 50 pushups making week total over 500, need another 70 crunches or so and have two hours to go...

Quick update before heading out of town for the evening. Won't be back home in time for regular weekly weigh in so decided to get one in this morning.

Current weight is: 264.8 (-3.8)

Body fat %: 34.1 (-1.8)

This is great motivation to stay on plan as we head out of town for the night. Hit my 265 goal, only 0.2 lbs away from -30lbs since the start and more importantly saw a 1.8% reduction in body fat that didn't move last week.

Hit my walking goal for last week, My pushup and situp goal but didn't get a dedicated strength training session in. Think the pushups and crunches are really helping though.

Another week in the books. I did manage to sneak on the scale this morning and the travel didn't have a negative effect on my weight so pretty thrilled about that. Ready to start a new month and looking forward to that extra day of the leap year as an extra day to get in shape...

Was thinking that I'm close to getting under last year's lowest weight which I seem to recall was around 262 lbs. I hit that mark and then fell off the fitness kick after a work trip last year which sent me back to 270ish, got back on track in April, ran a 10k and got back in the 262 range and then fell off track again. Last year I signed up for a half marathon but following the horrible result on the 10k stopped training altogether.

Live and learn, will have to use that as motivation to stick with it this year...

You can do it, and if you fall off the wagon we'll hunt you down and drag you back on board. I'm not kidding. We have ways of making you diet. *cracks knuckles*

lol, thanks. I've put Brawny on the case and he has the responsibility of mail bombing my email account if I should disappear into a buffet and sugar induced absence at any point.

Looking forward to blowing past my last year's low in a week or two. 250s here I come!

So having passed 265 I'm halfway to the goal by weight but still only 1/4 way through by time...

He usually goes unplugged on the weekends at the rancho. My guess is that he might be travelling or really busy today trying to bust out a big workout before his doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Decided to take a break from pushups/situps last night. Did get my 4 miles of walking in for the day so there was at least some activity. I decided to brave the WII Fit for the first time in 2 years... even after dropping 30 lbs this month I registered as having gained 30 lbs since my last weigh in on the Wii fit on 8 July 2009 which was right before I ran a 10 mile road race. Glad I didn't step on there when it would have registered 60lbs gained...

On a more positive note, my end of month weigh in today showed 262.6 lbs. When I looked back at my Wii stats for 2009 the first month started and ended with similar numbers so looks like I'm recreating the previous journey.

2009 second month brought 16 lbs lost so will be interesting to see if the number for Feb is close. Going to shoot for 8 lbs and attempt to do a mix that includes more strength training to see if I can cut down the body fat percentage a little quicker.

Friend suggested that when I reach the point that my larger clothes start looking too big I should give them away and I realized that this is an excellent suggestion. Last time I lost weight I kept them around for a "just in case I need them again" situation which is such a bad idea. It's like I was admitting that I didn't think I could maintain the progress I had made.

This time all my size 38's are going away and if I ever get back to the point that I have to start squeezing into 36's I'll know it's time to get back on track or be faced with admitting defeat and buying a whole new wardrobe. So basically the plan is to make my potential fatness face off against my confirmed cheapness...

The last time I was in this boat with huge pants and undies, when I lost the weight I cut up all the clothes into 3" X 3" squares to make a quilt. Its been like, 5 years and I still have the fabric but alas, I never learned how to quilt. So, THIS TIME I'll do the same thing and actually have enought for the whole quilt, lol! I'll call it my fatty quilt and I'l wrap my skinny body up in it when its cold outside and I don't have the fat stores to keep me insulated and warm. good job kicking January's ass! On to February....
