AHey feelinggooder! Congratulations on the triathlon! :hurray::hurray:
My hero! Good time and you're feeling greAt, what a combo! I agree with little John...take. Break for a few days! Your body may be hanging onto everything it can to get through this train up you are doing.
Keep up the good work and congrats again on the triathlon!

Sarah

you are amazing! reading about your triathlon is motivating you are awesome! I have to say though that sweaty liver conversation gross! lol

Completed my 10k road race on Saturday evening. It was a little on the warm side but finished it with a chip time of under 58:30 so very happy with that. I started off way back in the corral and spent the first few km trying to pick my way through a very crowded road until I caught up with a group that was going at mostly my pace. It's the first time I've completed a run while still passing people as I always tended to go out too fast and start slowing down towards the end.

Thanks for the positive comment Rainy and welcome back, Hope your treadmill is treating you well.

Weighed in on Sunday morning following the race and a few slices of pizza to see that my weight and body fat percentage have dropped slightly this week so have actually made it into the 220s for the first time in a looong time. Can also now fit fairly comfortably into some size 34 jeans and I cannot remember the last time I purchased size 34s.

First post updated with weekly stats.

This weekend is a 5k spartan race which should be interesting

WoW! you are just amazing, that's so great I wouldn't even imagine myself running that many miles that fast.... You help me imagine this as even being possible, why not look at FeelingGooder doing 10k in under 1hr!!!!!! YoUR DOING so GREAT!!!! :hurray:

AHey feelinggooder, I'm back in China now and can finally give your diary a proper read. You are amazing dude! Congratulations on th run and knocking off almost all of your official goals! I went back to your first entry and particularly liked how you just lined through them as you are ticking them off! While I was on vacation, I was inspired to write down some of my goals and to reassess where I want to work, and have focused in on getting these final ~30 pounds off by the end of the year 2012. I've also added some short term e excise goals, specifically to do 20 pushups by the end of June...doesn't souns like a lot, but for me I have to start somewhere! You are really an inspiration to me and I unashamedly copy from you! Thanks for all your help and comments along my journey, and keep up the good work!
Sarah

Thanks Sarah,

Feel free to copy anything you see since I only found this place by someone posting a link to your thread on twitter so I have to thank you for leading me here.

Completed the Spartan race on Sunday which was a mud filled 5km run with obstacles. Started out with a small group of friends but after the first few minutes the group of five became a group of three in the back and a group of two up front with me frantically trying to keep up with a much faster runner in the front. Was a fun time and in the end the two of us crossed the line ten minutes ahead of the group of three. Fun stuff and another one to cross off the front page.

Weight seems pretty stable around 228. Body fat percentage crept back up to 26.7% this week. Glad to be done with the three back to back to back race weekends so now to find the next series of events. Looking at another triathlon and a 10 mile running race in July and still keeping the half ironman option open for the end of the season.

Have discovered that I have been training at too fast a pace during nearly every workout I have done up to this point which is bad for a few reasons. Primarily because it leads to your body going into a anaerobic state which is much less efficient and can also lead to canibalizing muscle for fuel (which could have something to do with the bouncing body fat percentages)

I'll be trying to tone down the effort level and increase the time I exercise to see if it makes a difference.

Hope all are enjoying the journey.

Ahhhhhhhh.... so that goes down as a rather non-fitness related weekend of catching up with friends, drinking in the sun and trying to avoid dehydration.

Food choices - terrible

Drinking - excessive and it takes sooo much longer to bounce back

Exercise - limited to walking to and from the hotel

Vitamin D - high dose....

A couple months ago, a weekend like that would had me concerned about falling off the exercise game but at this point I see it as a small roadbump and a break from training. In a few days or weeks the damage done on the scale (about 2 lbs) will be gone. Important thing is to make sure that weekend is the exception and not the rule...

Sounds similar to my weekend, but with less beach and more walking. I saw it coming, though, and just decided to step off the bus for a week. Back on track now!

AHey feelinggooder! Well, finally, you are human! With all your awesome workouts and triathlon talk, I was sure you were way out of my league! Sounds like you had a great weekend, and even better your attitude about this weekend just being a speed bump was just great! Thanks, I needed that!
I'm currently enroute back to China, so I will get back to a more normal routine for at least a month and am going to kick into my next phase of weight loss!
Keep up the great work...both good and "bad" weekends!
Sarah

Thanks Sarah, think it's equally important to fess up to the bad weekends as the good ones long term. Have had a slow week recovering from a cold but starting to feel gooder enough to start working out again.

Had a fight with an old tree in my backyard a couple weeks back and after quite a workout it's finally cut down, cut into junks, tree trunk removed and hole filled back in again. If anyone is ever looking for a workout that puts P90X to shame, go dig up a tree stump... Had an axe, shovel, pick and a branch cutter all going on top of digging dirt out from the roots with my gloved hands and it still took a few sessions to get it out.

Got my meals back on track this week and posted a weight loss and body fat % drop so happy to be back into the 220's again. Time to get back on the training bandwagon.

AReally proud of you feelinggooder for not breaking down, most people would quit after a weekend like that, but I can definitely tell that you will reach your goals because you know that this is a life style, and not a phase. Not even a bump along the way will stop you.

Thanks MLB and Truesylver, I seem to have decided that it's time to quit quitting which has helped immensely. The tree may not have stood a chance but it was pretty touch and go for a while there... the longer it took to get the tree out of the ground the more crazy ideas that came to mind like filling the hole with gas and trying to burn the stump out of the ground, moving the fire pit to surround the stump and a few more that weren't as plausible.

I finally seem to be getting over a cold that wouldn't go away last week and planning to go for an afternoon jog. Been a while and looks like it's going to be a hot one so will have to take it easy today.

Thanks Tob, been almost six months and it's sometimes hard to believe how much things have changed for the better.

Got a 6k jog in yesterday and was surprised how slow I had to take it and how much I'm hurting today. Too long between runs due to the flu/partial laziness but at the same time it felt good to be out running again.

AYou are continuing to do great and you remain an inspiration for me! Glad to see you are on the mend and back at it.
Good job and so proud of your transformation over the past 6 months!
Sarah

Another week down. Got a good bike ride in on Saturday morning before the sun came out to make it too hot/humid and did a lot of yard work cleaning up sections of the property that built up a good sweat.

Getting the itch to set some new goals as the first batch are nearly done. Have to re-evaluate my triathlon goals for this year since the half ironman requires more training time than I can reasonably expect to put in. Will probably move that to next year and pick a couple other individual sports events to take its place.

Focus and motivation starting to waver a little so think it's time to sign up for some more challenges.

Weight down a full 0.2 lbs this week and body fat % crept back up 0.5%. Body fat percentage is really fluctuating and seems to be linked to the temperature in my house overnight which makes sense from a sweating and hydration standpoint. Should start paying more attention to measurements.

AGood to see you back feelinggooder!
When I did the marathon back in 1999 (forever ago), it took a huge amount of time...and that is just 1 part of a triathlon! So I completely understand your re-evaluation of your goals...we still have to live and work (at least most of us do!)
You might just keep focused on one portion of the triatheon...like running some 10k races or swimming a certain distance in a x time. Perhaps you should only do the %body fat every 2 weeks to ket it settle out some...since I'm still far away from %body fat goals, I'm not sure how realistic my suggestions are!
I'm sure if you continue with your good choices, you will continue to be fitter thinner person you want to be!
