Weight Loss Journal of Chantelle

So starting my weight loss journal... I am 21 years old I weigh 85kg and I am 163cm tall, my ideal weight would be 55-65kg (so 20-25kg loss). I am going to say that I will give myself a year to accomplish this much weight loss as I have never tried losing weight before and would not know what a realistic goal would be... but since this time last year went by so quickly I would be happy to be 55-65kg this time next year or close :)

To accomplish my goal I am going to the gym 4 times a week for as many hours as I am able to do, I am trying my hardest to eat healthy, trying the few small portions a day as to not become hungry and to satisfy the energy my body needs to work and think. I would love to know of any plans that have been successful for other people starting off...

My boyfriend is my greatest support, he is very fit already and doesn't seem to store food as much as I do, and he will eat anything I will so it isn't me making several different meals to make us both happy. He already thinks I'm perfect (apparently) and he has known me at my fit weight (when I was younger) and at the weight I am now and still loves me :) My family are also very supportive and want me to be happy with my body; I am very lucky with the support I am being given to reach my goal weight.

Tomorrow the 27th August 2013 is my start date and I will try my hardest to come online every night to record my day in this weight journal and hopefully my goal is realistic and I am sure doable if I put my mind to it.

My main things to overcome, that I think contributed to my weight gain; I need to walk more places instead of driving, I need to cook healthier meals instead of going for the quick and easy unhealthy meal... I need to get out more and be more active and get used to it, sitting at home being bored is what usually brings me to eat, for no reason except that I am bored and have nothing else to do. I also need to eat breakfast, get rid of the redbull and start taking a healthy home made lunch to work.

The hardest thing I think will be trying to quit alcohol, I am still young and enjoy going out and having a few drinks and I am going to try limiting my drinks until I can cut it out altogether :/

The journey begins... Wish me luck guys :)

Hi and welcome to the forum!!

Good to see another Aussie- I'm from WA! Just moved over to Qld a few months ago in fact!!

Good luck with your goals!

I only just started, am almost the same height as you and my goal is similar.

What do you do in the gym? Is there any kind of sport you really enjoy? For me (this is personal preference) it is always easier to do something i enjoy, I am way more able to keep that up rather than forcing myself to do something I hate (I am not a gym rat, but can do with going a few times a week, not more than that though or I quit really easily, find excuses, etc...). So for example I play a team sport and try to put as many "active" things into my social life as possible. Today instead of using the bank holiday to lounge aimlessly in front of the telly, I am going to go ice skating for a couple of hours. Sure it is not exactly weight training but it is better than sitting around.

So that might be an idea, just get a more active life style, you (and the people around you) will benefit greatly from this. Especially because you are so young and probably don't have that many ties (no babies, no elderly parents who need a ton of help, etc...), so going for a day long hike or an adventure or something is totally doable.

Good luck, enjoy the ride, Joey

That's great, looked at the Aussie thread on here and there wasn't much talking recently, but great to know there are WA people here, even if your in QLD now :)

At the moment I wouldn't know what I am doing at the gym, but I am only just starting out and I have a friend who said he will show me what I need to do when I am focusing on certain parts of my body... I want to get used to going there regularly first but I'm pretty boring and just use the treadmill and exercise bikes for now... I have done a few pump classes tho, they were pretty full on but I think if I got used to it it would be a lot easier... I'm lucky because hardly anyone uses the university gym and I am alone most of the time, and at the moment that's the way I like it. :)

Well I used to play soccer (football) in school and I really enjoyed it but I am finding it hard to find a women's team in the suburb I live in (don't want to have to drive too far) so I have inquired about hockey, which I also have enjoyed playing in the past... the joining fee + the equipment I need to buy is quite expensive, so I am hoping to save for joining next year. I like your idea of doing active things when socialising that is definitely something I could do and I know for a fact my friends would be in also, thanks for that idea.

Yeah that's so right, plus I recon if I make it part of my lifestyle now then it will become a habit and as I get older it won't be as hard to keep doing it to stay fit and healthy.

:)

I used to play soccer...I miss it :( Sports are great cardio and often much more fun than going to the gym, running outside or working out at home. It's a great way to socialize and surround yourself with others who are interested in staying/getting fit and healthy. As for not knowing the equipment at the gym...personally I hate gyms but you could ask one of the trainers and they should show you how to properly use machines and which ones work best for what you are trying to achieve.

Ok yesterday was pretty bad in the sense of I hardly ate anything, I was pretty busy all day (sitting at a desk tho)... any way I ate 4 kiwi fruit for breakfast, an apple for lunch and half a large tin of tuna for dinner... I just wasn't in the mood to eat (for once) and I only ate the tuna because when i got into bed after Thorne's puppy pre-school I had a bit of a headache obviously from not eating anything except 4 bits of fruit all day... today I promise to make it better, this morning before work I am going to the shops (haven't done big weekly shop until tonight) to buy a healthy breakfast and something for lunch (so I don't end up at the Lunchbar or starving myself like yesterday). :)
