Week off for recuperation?

I read that after around 9 weeks of lifting its best to let the muscles grow/recuperate by letting them rest for a week. Keep in mind that i have been lifting for a while without hardly missing anyProlly a good 5-6 mons of lifting.So do you think i should take next week off and do cardio every other day?
 
yup, i don't know about it being exactly 9 weeks, but it is good for your body to recuperate, I wasn't too excited about taking time off, but when I did the week back felt completely different, I could definitely feel it a lot more in every exercise
 
Knowing Your Numbers!

If you are consistently logging your numbers (weight, and reps) you can determine if you need recuperation time. If your numbers have been stagnate for weeks - rest, and grow. If they continue to increase weekly, keep pushing until the numbers tell you to REST. Bottom Line: Always know your strength training Numbers!
