Wearing Sweats While Working out

Ok so besides the obvious of sweating more if you wear sweats while working out, what are the other benefits? I see a lot of people at the gym wearing really warm clothes while doing cardio, does this really do anything?

i spose some people think the moe they sweat the harder they've trained and / or more wt they'll lose but you just put the wt bak on when you drink again so it's all in vain...other than that, nothing
 
My opinion is that this helps if you want to loose water under your skin. Sweating is a sign that you loose weight, but it is a "correct" sign when you sweat naturally - from exercises, or cardio.

If your goal is only to increase sweating, this doeasn't mean you burn more fat.

People have internal and external body temperature. You loose weight when you increase your internal body temperature - with workout for examplle.

Increasing external body temperature leads to more sweting, because your body want to regulate your normal temperature, but this doesn't cause fat burning.

I hope I explaine this simple and meaningful.
 
Dress comfortably for you. It's better to not restrict or get overheated. I like shorts myself. Some people believe the more you sweat... the more calories you burn.

That's a myth :D
 
i had an aerobics teacher who insisted on keepingher muscles "warm" with leg warmers, etc.

i never do that! i'd die! i can barelykeep my sneakers on!
 
Yeah its different for everyone. Sweating is just that sweating its not a result of fat loss, however for some it can be a indicator in some aspects. For example if you have been walking briskly for a month on a treadmill and you used to break a decent sweat however lately you feel you don't have to push as hard and you aren't sweating the same or at all, may be time to bump up your intensity. That kind of thing.

I personally never get hot or sweat on my legs really and just like the comfy feel of big jogging pants so i wear those, but I most of the time wear just a sports bra on top.
 
I wear sweat pants and a t-shirt when I work out. I just feel comfortable in sweat pants. Plus I don't really like my legs sweating against the equipment.
 
Over dressed, esp in non-tech materials, just suffocate and make you loose water. You'd gain it all back by drinking water to replenish your thurst.
 
I think I would die if I wore sweats in the gym!!!! I wear a sports bra and shorts. I still sweat quite a bit. It is a myth that the more you sweat the more weight you lose because you will just put all that back on when you have a drink. Sweating is sign that you are working hard beacuse you are raising your body temp. However it is cheating to work out in warm clothing and claim to have worked the same amount becuse you are sweating more!!!! LOL Just wear what ever you are comftable with!!!!!
