Hello everyone ,

i'm male/17 years old, 6.1 (187 cm) , about 192 pounds (87 KG) .

i was thinking of losing weight and building my body at the same time ( Is that possible ?! )

i'm planning to do exercies roughly till 13th February since i have holidays , and i'll schedule my time between school and exercises by then..

anyway , here are some super noob questions :

1-what's a Cardio ?!

2-what does Reps mean ?!

3- a) how many hours should I exercise every day ?
b) how many training sessions should I have every day , one time or more than once ( morning + evening ) ? !
c) shall i do exercises for a specific part of the body on each day ? , or just do exercises for the whole body everyday?

4-how long will it take to get fit by following a good healthy diet and the routine exrcises ?

some Requests:

1-good exercises to burn fat and lose weight , good Cardio ( i guess there are different types of it ! ) .

2-good and effective exercises to gain muscle ! ( for the whole damn body :p )

3-effective diet programme that won't affect my health specially the hair ! ( cuz i'm growing it out long, i don't want it to start falling with the diet ! )

ok first i have to ask

metallica pre black album or metallica post black album ;)

1. CARDIO
Refers to doing some type of Cardiovascular Training: steps, bike, walking, etc

2. REPS
Short for repetition. say like an arm curl. you curl the weight up, then lower it back down. thats one rep

3.
a. 45-60 minutes is more than enough
b. one a day is fine
c. its a good idea to train the whole body in the beginning

4. depends on many factors but you should notice some results in a few weeks.

that helped me Alot ! , thanx man :) .

hehe don't be afraid , i'm not one of those new metallica (St.Anger) Fans !! , i'm an old school fan ( Ride the Lightning , ...And justice for all , Master of puppets ) ;) .

OH HELL YEA!!!!!!!

;)

CV stands for cardio Vascular, CV is good for everyone, specially those wishing to lose weight, even if you want to put muscle on, you still do this, you will get a lower bf %ige.
I go to the gym, monday's, tuesdays, weds, fri's, and sundays always good for a rest, at the very least im in there 60 mins, sometimes I just go for about 2 hours, maybe a less intensity

2. reps just means reporitions (sorry bout spelling) like you lift a weight once, one repition

3. 1 hour is well enough, some people say they havn't got the time, but I suggest 1 hour, and have break day
B) once a day is fine, two is good
C) If you go gym everyday, then you need to have like a rota, monday:-work arms. Tuesday:-Work Legs. Wed: abs, but this is just for poeple going all the time I agree in begining just do a bit of everything

You Requests:
1. Well the best CV work out there is jogging, I don't think anyone can say any diffrent, and you dont have to join a gym to do it, its absoulty free, there is ride a bike as well, rowing, anything thats gets the heart going faster than normal, always aerobic, I THINK (this means use oxygen), sprinting (anarobic) short burst of energy

2. Sit ups, jogging, chin ups, weights, use your imagination

3. Fish, High Protein, also make sure you get carbohydrate, but dont eat this to late, some people say it turns to fat in your sleep, but you need this, protein fixes muscle's helps them grow

hmm prob. both since i like all of their albums. St. Anger isnt bad it just doesnt match up to any of the others. if you watch Some Kind Of Monster youll appreciate St. Anger more. hopefully their new album will be alot better though.

i think their new stuff is pretty good, but i dont think there's any matching "and justice for all" or the black album...

Bear and rocker, I'll let you decide which type of Metallica fan I am

My favorite metallica songs are Jump in the fire, Disposable Heroes, Trapped Under Ice, and Shortest Straw (one from each of the good albums for ya :) )

How can anyone forget lyrics like

"Back to the front, you will do, what I say, when I say
Back to the front, you will die, when I say, you must die"

I left out Garage days because they didn't actually write those songs, but Last caress/Green hell, Crash Course in Brain Surgery, and The Wait are great too :)

Being a Fear Factory, Stampin Ground, Machine Head, Unearth, Soulfly fan, I cant bring myself to like the new Metallica.

Abear answered the beginning part of your thread well - he's smart, take his advice.

Anyways, I think the best form of cardio to burn fat, while trying to gain muscle, is HIIT (high-intensity interval training). You can Google that for more info, or search this site's forums, too. Here is a basic treadmill HIIT programme: 5 minutes warm-up; 30 second sprint (I do 10mph); 60 second recover (I usually do 4.5-5mph) - a total of 8 sprints/recovers; 5 minutes cool-down - for a total of about 22 minutes. It's not something you want to do everyday, as it is very difficult, but perhaps 3-4 times/week.

Check out this link: http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html - a super site for tons of weight-training exercises. For the first few weeks, be sure to focus on proper form and technique. And full-body work-outs in the beginning are good, like Abear said. Once you begin to progress, you can start splitting it up and lifting heavier. Be sure to give your body adequate rest - you build muscle while resting, not while working-out.

You want to eat a clean diet - no processed foods. Eat plenty of oatmeal (not the kind in the packets - it's full of sugar), vegetables & fruits, grilled chicken, tuna, super-lean beef, natural PB, flax oils, egg whites, 100% whole wheat bread, and some protein powder. Your stats seem like you don't need to lose weight - so be sure you are eating plenty! Otherwise your muscles won't grow because the lack of fuel. Try to eat 5-7 meals per day, with a source of protein with each.

Go out and buy 'Weight Training for Dummies' it'll tell you everything you need to know

st anger was ok, the dvd sounded better to me than the cd

most ppl dont agree with me, but i think they should have kept dave mustaine. with him and if cliff hadnt died, we wouldnt have had those load cds they did in the 90's.

i actually like load and reload is alright but i do agree with u abear. and yes it does sound better on the dvd cause the snare is fixed. i swear it sounds like lars is banging on pots in that cd. most of the st. anger songs sond better on the SKOM movie.

LOL at the pots :D

i wonder what direction they're gonna go in for the next cd. i dont think they're at the point of the greatest hits reunion tours like van halen and motley crue

Naw I don't think that they should have kept Dave Mustaine, If they kept Dave, Then we wouldn't have had Metallica and Megadeth, metallica would have been releasing "Rust In Peace, Peace Sells (But Whos Buying) and Symphony of Destruction as Metallica after Kill 'em All. If Cliff Burton wouldn't have passed away, when Hetfield, and Ulrich came up with the style for Load, Reload, and St. Anger, Burton would have told them to take a flying **** and moved on I believe. I also think the change in musical direction they took was what caused the animosity between Jason Newstead and Metallica, just my 2 cents.

/end hijack

maybe but cliff could have changed his style too. he was human too and it was a differnt generation of music.
