Upper pot-belly

Hi guys,

New to the forum, so first of all nice to meet you! :)

My problem is this:

I am pretty skinny, I weigh around 10stone, with a height of around 5'9/5'10. I feel I don't look too nerdy, I play the drums and do a bit of weights. However, I seem to have a little pot belly, but not where I'd presume they usually are. Its the upper part of my stomach. When I stand straight with a better posture, it does improve it, but it still remains. I don't quite understand? I'd of thought if I was going to have a pot belly, it would be lower down, but this area is pretty toned. I know I have a fast metabolism, because I eat basically whatever I want and don't put any weight on. But could it be gathering around my stomach more than other areas? How would you recommend getting rid of it? Exercise? Eat less c**p?!

Also, whilst I'm here, is there any use in me doing weights as I'm skinny? I know I don't have any real fat to turn into muscle, but I would of thought it is still toning me up?! Just thought I may as well ask :)

Thanks for your help

when you weight train fat doesn't turn to muscle...
youre' just really skinny and need to eat more. Eat a lot more actually since you claim that it's impossible for u to gain weight, u should try gaining weight...

I don't know whether I'm reallyyy skinny, but yeah pretty slim! I don't eat little amounts, I eat the same amount, if not more, and types of food as everyone else. I just presume I have a fast metabolism? I'm not the most active person so I'm not burning it off either. I don't know whether I want to try weight gain stuff because frankly I don't think I care that much, my question was about a bit of a pot belly :) maybe I posted it in the wrong section :newbie:

no, if you are 5'10 and 140lbs then u are too skinny and should focus on gaining weight. You probably don't eat nearly as much as you think you do. I hope you realize that the people you compare how much you eat with to may eat more frequently than you. In addition you may very well have a very high metabolism (which is common for a teenager or young adult).

You don't have to take any weight gainers, just eat more and lift heavy so you can add some muscle to your frame whilst gaining minimal fat, adding muscle will make you look more athletic and toned and lean.

I'm more on the 5'9 side, and I've looked at the BMI chart before, and it says I'm in the normal range. I don't know, but like you said,I would class myself as skinny, just not 'too' skinny, if that makes sense. I would like to put on a bit of weight though yeah.

And I know you've probably heard it a thousand times before, but I can't put weight on. No matter what I eat. I eat just as frequently as everyone else, and I eat fatty foods as well. I also snack. My mum and dad have/had slender frames, I think it's probably genetic. I have thought about getting weight gain, just as a kind of experiment as to whether it would work, but haven't got around to it, maybe I shall sometime soon. I'm not too concerned about it to be honest, it doesn't effect me much. I still get girls etc, and I think I'm actually deceivingly strong for my size, probably due to drums! ha. thanks for your input aniway :)
