two little questions =)

I rarly ever get them, but what causes those pains in your side when you run? I noticed that it seems to happen when I drink water before a run.

And whats a good running time for 1.5 mil. for the average joe? I have around 11 min. w/o stoping, right now. My goal right now is to get 2 mil. down w/o stopping and under 21 min. Whats your time?

thanks for your help, your also a big motivation i like checking this site out and hearing from you.

I can get two miles done in under 18 minutes, should be a rather breeze for you.

Water helps in running. Always drink plenty of water. Those pains you have could be cramps. I usually have them once I begin to run after a long while of not running at all. Just keep at it, it should go away fairly soon. ;)

The pain is what you call the stitch! heres a tip when you get it breath real deep through your nose and exhale through you mouth. Do this a few times and it should go away.

Tglpgm- I have a spacific destination i run to and back from. Its abround a mile and a half. I dont stop till im home, my legs dont hurt, i just go till Im back where i started...so thats why i stop. I know i should go for a longer period of time, but for now Im going for distance, how far i can run w/o stopping for a breather, then i'll work on it from there.

What works for me is to press your fingers into the side that's aching while taking a few deep breaths. It will usually go away after your 3rd or 4th breath. (At least, it works for me!)

distance i do 1.5 miles in under 9 min- i have for fit test requirements. as far as the stiches take a couple of deep breaths and they should go away.

I get those cramps if I eat something before I go.

I can do a mile pretty fast for myself, probably around 6 minutes now. 1.5 miles I am not sure though.

listening to you guys make me feel like a total slacker...my mile and a 1/2 is at 15 min. now, but it was at 13:40 when I was in training...i've never been a strong runner...i wish I were. i wish i liked it as i hear so many people do. well, i like it after i'm done but i hate it before i start...make sense?

running in Houston, Texas isn't fun either...especially since we average 80-85% humidity EVERY day...it's Nov. 11th and it's 85 degrees outside!!!

Hey Don't feel too bad. I use to run my 1 1/2 run in 11.00 mins. I have since moved to Cheyenne Wyoming where we are 6000 feet above sea level and my run has gone down. The first time I ran up here it was 17mins. have gotten it down to 15.36mins in two months.

Just gradually keep pushing yourself. Try running at an incline, and I promise you that it will improve when you go back to flat ground.

2miles 14minutes and can easily knock time off it :D
