Well, I weighed myself for the first time in a long time today. And I tipped the scale at 260. Once again, it seems that I packed on another 10 big ones. Typically when I try to lose weight, something happens and I stop, and then I will weigh myself and get even more discouraged. So I am going to try again, and I am praying that, this time, I can stay on track. This is what I am doing:
ZUMBA!
I was at dinner with some fellow students and a professor and we were talking about exercising. My prof said to find a sport that you enjoy doing. I, myself, really enjoy dancing. Then I heard people talking about Zumba and I saw an infomercial. It is an intense workout based on Latin style dancing. I ordered the DVDs and am starting to do it. I really work up a sweat when I do it. The most important thing is to let go and have fun in order to really enjoy the workout.
Watching what I eat.
I am using an online calorie and activity counter. With this I have a 1700 cal/day diet. Because I am a college student and work, I really cannot follow strict diet meal plans. By counting calories, I am able to eat right with what is available to me. I guess you can say I am changing my eating style.

I have never stuck with a weightloss plan for more than a week and a half. So my first goal is to live healthily and treat my body kindly for 2 weeks.

Hey welcom to the forum and Good Luck!!! You will find tons of support on this site. It is so true that in order to stick to a workout you got to enjoy doing it!!!! Great start with the mini goal!!!!

Okey Dokey all, well today I was doing some experimenting at breakfast. I always found it difficult to incorporate vegetables at breakfast. The only thing I ever did was have salsa on toast or an egg. My family has a garden, and we always get a ton of zucchini. So today I made an omelet with sauteed onions and shredded zucchini. Word to the wise: pat the shredded zucchini dry with a paper towel first, it has a lot of excess water. I also was inventive with lunch. I did a sort of fruit and veggie compote. I had broccoli, carrots, cucumber, mozzarella, and pineapple with a little Italian dressing. I really like to throw stuff together and see how it turns out, this concoction was a winner. The pineapple really satisfied my sweet tooth, and the juices from that mixed into everything else. I guess we will see what I come up with in the future.

I did the Zumba tone and sculpting workout today. It definitely makes you sweat. When I first started, the bottom of my foot used to ache, but today I noticed that it didn't, so that is a plus. I also noticed that if I do not look at the screen and just listen to what they tell me to do, I find that I am able to get into it more.

When dinner was being made today I kind of wanted to cry. I live with my family in the summer when I am not at school and we all share dinner together. Today's menu, was fettucini with ricotta. Full fat and full carbs. I measured out my serving, but I definitely was not satisfied even though that meal had many calories. I got over it and jut loaded up my salad with some more zucchini.

Well, off to bed now, there is a rumbly in my tumbly though.... glass of water.

Sorry for the delay. I did not have a computer for the past day and a half. Well, as far as food goes, I did not go over my calories for the day, but my food choices were not the greatest. I really like salty foods, but all the salt made me retain water and my feet swelled. When I started eating right and working out, my feet were not like that, but I had a burrito, and my feet were puffy again. I am not going to be discouraged though, it will be business as usual tomorrow. One thing I really try to do is to consume as many fresh products as possible. I hear that there are more nutrients when fruits and veggies are raw instead of cooked. I did not exercise either :-( . This will be the first of many stumbles, I just have to keep getting back to where I am treating myself right.

Hello everyone. Well, things have been going pretty well. I have been mostly eating right. However when I come home from work I am slightly ravenous. During the day, while I am at work, I only consume about 500 calories for the entire day, because I don't get the opportunity to get a morning or an afternoon snack. when I get home I just want to EAT!! And then I want to keep eating. I get especially hungry at night. Does anyone have any suggestions how to not pillage the kitchen during the night when you are hungry?? On days where I don't have to work, my eating habits are good because I am able to eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day.

On the upside, I have lost 7lbs. YAY. I am going to Zumba cardio today. Should be fuN!

Hey Congrats on the loss so far!!

ok about your question...the trick is to never be hungry....you could eat something like nuts on the way back from work so that you are not to hungry when you get home......Nuts are full of healthy fats and proteines so they help you feel full longer. What do you generally eat for lunch??? Make sure that you have a good portion of protein since there are hours in between your meal. As for evening I keep busy and when I do find myself in the kitchen I always ask myself are you bored or hungry...If I am hungry then I eat like 1/2 a banana, or carrots sticks, cause if I am hungry I won't sleep. I hope this wil help you!

Thank you so much for your reply!!! I am so glad that someone is actually reading my posts. As for the advice, thank you. It is funny to think that a person should never be hungry, especially when you are trying to lose weight! I will definitely try what you said. Thanks again!

I've been losing weight for 6 months now and don't remember feeling hungry once. Healthy natural food keeps you feeling food for much longer and stops food cravings. I agree that eating something before you get home will stop you feeling so hungry when you get there. Hunger causes binges and you want to avoid that at all costs.
Well done on the weight loss so far :)

Good evening my adoring fans!! So wonderful of you to visit! :biggrinjester:

Joking aside...

Today went really well all around. First I had my normal coffee and then some breakfast. Afterwards I did Zumba strength training. For once I am not sore after doing it. I have to say that my favorite part of the workout is the cool down. It is so relaxing, and then you are sad that it is over. Today I was thinking to myself what it would be like to have a flat stomach. To not have rolls sticking out anywhere, or to have to suck in. I also read today that those who are obese going into their 20s double their chance of an early death. That really scared me and I am really glad that I am doing something about my weight.

I made another one of my concoctions today. Kind of a veggied-up tuna salad. I added 1/2 cup each of celery, carrots, and zucchini to a can of light tuna with a little onion and some light mayo and salad supreme seasoning. I really enjoyed it and it gave me another way to incorporate veggies into my meals.

I did however feel hungry today once. It was early in the evening, about an hour before dinner. It was so hard to concentrate on anything. So I had one of those lite fugdscicles. Not the best choice, I know, but it got me through until dinner.

Well done on making healthy choices. Even when you were really hungry you took a better option than you probably would have done before.

It is really hard to eat right when everyone else in your home doesn't. Usually I would not tell my family that I was dieting or exercising to try to improve myself. This time around I did. I to pretty well throughout the day, but we all eat dinner together and it isn't always the best thing to eat when you are watching. For instance, last night was steak night, and the night before was alfredo. The thing is I do not have the money to buy all of my own groceries, especially since I just laid out $600 for my books :-( . Also, my stepdad came up to me today and said not to drink skim milk because women cannot absorb the calcium unless they drink at least 2% milk. Any opinions on that???

The past 2 days I found myself reverting back to my old habits slightly. I used to sneak food a lot and eat by myself. I did it last night with a piece of sausage. I am not going to get discouraged though.

Word to the wise, go to the bathroom before you weigh yourself in the morning. I weighed myself before and then I went #1 and #2 and found that the before was 3-4lbs more than the after.

I have been thinking a lot about how to stick with good eating habits when I go to school. I only get 2 meals a day, and I use that for lunch and dinner, normally I would skip breakfast. However, I don't really want to keep food in my room because I would usually end up eating it all when I would be doing my homework. I would like to keep fresh fruit and veggies in my room, good-for-you cereal, maybe eggs in the fridge.

What are your opinions on taking protein supplements? I would like to get more protein in my diet 1. because it helps you build muscle 2. because it helps keep you fuller longer, and I hate feeling like I am hungry.
