Trops Diary

I'm so going to start jumping rope now. My gym is closed this weekend, and I didn't know what I was going to do. I can't run outside for some reason. I just give up really quickly. I think i need to see the numbers on the treadmill screen to keep me going. But I used to love jumping rope as a little kid. I'm totally going to try it this weekend. Thanks!

I think you'd be proud of me tonight. I only ate a jumbo pork tenderloin sandwich at the fair. I just wasn't feeling the grease. And the sandwich made me sick to my stomach. Not to mention it was freaking HOT outside.

We stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home and I abstained from the ice cream and had a big glass of water instead.

Went to the pool with the kiddos today and we had races. and I toted them around a lot. That was my only workout for the day, but my day was totally jam packed today.

Good job on keeping up your energy and on your jump ropes! You are a crazy man! Enjoy your festival this weekend!!

Oh, Jessie, I'm proud of you, and not for the fair food. You are doing great. Sounds like a good time today.

I noticed that Irish Festival is boasting "The Best Fair Food on Long Island" I'm skeptical. What do the Irish know about good food? They think that boiling water is a spice. I'll see tomorrow. There is going to be really good beer, though. Beamish Stout. Very yum.

Your gym is closed? Most gyms have a riot when they close. All the addicts needing their fix. I know what you can do. You should go to the Irish Festival. :D

thats HORRIBLE how you count the jumps....I'd GO INSSSSANE...and QUIT after 5....LOL

...minutes WORK with me.....CONGRATS to you though....CRAZY!!! AMAZING actually!!!!

The word you're looking for is cramazing. Try it out, see how you like it.

Day 100

Evening shift.

Well, here I am at day 100 of this thing. Made some pretty big changes. Nothing to radical. I'm still the same person I always was, but not healthy eating and exercise is a daily part of what I do. Still have a bit to go. 20 pounds and I'll be doing real good, but I'm not so worried about it these days. the big thing is to keep at making it a thing that will stick every day for the next 60 years or so.

I happened to be at the pharmacy to pick up medicine for my son and they have a free blood pressure machine. I don't know how accurate it is, but I thought I'd give it a try. 104/62 Not bad. I think that's actually a little on the low side. I don't know. The last time I had a physical it was 120/80 or something like that. A few months before I was turned away from donating blood for having it over 130 (131 but it wouldn't come down.) This I consider a success in the healthy department. Go me!

I really feel like I should be running tonight, but it's so damn hot out. Maybe I'll get up early and go, but with the festival going on tomorrow and Sunday, I don't see me really doing all that much. It will give me an excuse to eat some junk this weekend. (Mmmm, Beer :drool5:) Tonight, I'm just not feeling it. Maybe I'll jump rope again or something. I'll see how it goes.

Hey darlin - I missed your promotion to Senior Member status :)

You have come a long way in just 100 days - that incredible. It is good to see how you are happy with your progress - you are right, for this to stick, you have to be in it for the long haul.

Hey, Ali. Yeah, I hit that a while ago. 422 posts ago. Damn, I've become chatty these days.

I am in it for the long haul, and it's not just rhetoric. For me to really live the life I want, I need to be healthy, and not for a wedding or a birthday, but for life. I know people in their 70's and 80's that kick some serious ass. Not for their age but against any age. My grandmother turns 98 this year and she'll still hit a 45 on nine holes of golf. I want to be the hundred year old man who is still running a marathon. (well, maybe half) That isn't going to happen when I'm 60 and decide that I've just wasted all those years plus the ones to come. I'm in this. I want to be lifting my great grandchildren up the way I do my kids now. Why not? I'm here now and I'm not letting go!

(now I'm off to eat a cheese steak. :leaving:)

Excuse me sir...

Weren't you the one who said you wouldn't eat fair food anymore?

What is this cheese steak and beer business? You guilted me into only eating one pork tenderloin sandwich at my fair. Just picture me sitting on your shoulder asking you repeatedly... "Are you sure you want to eat that?"

Just kidding... you are allowed to let loose occaissionally too. Plus your weight loss is far better than mine, so I shouldn't be pigging out.

Just felt like laying a guilt trip on you... :sifone:

That is so cool about your grandmother Trops. I love meeting people who live into their late 80's, 90's and even a 100 and hear about their lives and stuff. I like to know "the secret" to living to be a 100 but they say a lot of it has to do with genetics... I'm hoping my dad lives a long time. I'll be a nurse so I will happily take care of him if he needs me too. Mostly what we worry about is Alzeheimers and Diabetes in my family... Hopefully a cure is on the way for each in my lifetime, and my dad's if he needs it.

My friend's grandma moved in with his family because she was diagnosed with lung cancer about a year or so ago... She is a spry old woman for sure. She is 87 years old and has been on chemo for awhile now, and it never made her sick at all in the first round, you didn't even know she was on it. Now that she's been on it for awhile it is starting to catch up with her, which is sad... She went to her geriantologist for her checkup when she first moved down here and he asked her what she took for pain... She pulled a little travel sized bottle of Advil out of her purse and said this every so often and that is it!!! Unbelievable, imo...

BTW, I'm trying to post a lot so I can finally reach my Senior Member status as well... Pretty soon :)

Yeeessss Teacherrrrrrr.

:sifone:

Unfortunately for me, I can't even go tonight. I'm at work till 11 and that's when the fair closes. I'll be there tomorrow, but I plan on having a real good breakfast and bringing a cooler full of treats and water. I'm going to be good. Beer is $5 a cup so I really don't feel like dropping all that much on beer. I did sneak a peak at the kilt vendor, though. I'll be dropping some cash there. Need some slimmer kilts. :coolgleamA:

Oh, And I really can't stand the processed cheese that the fair people put on the cheese steaks. :ack2:

I feel like I'm a cheese snob too anymore. I've had too much of the good stuff to settle for the american processed shit nowadays...

Oh, Sammy, you don't even know. There are some cheese shops near me. All they sell is cheese. You go in there and they whip out the cheese plane and start slicing tastes. It's heaven, but not for the diet. New Years Day we have been making it a tradition to have a cheese party. Easily ten different kinds of cheese of all varieties of milk and styles and Oh so good!.

Yeah, "cheese food product," as it says on the package, doesn't really fly in my house.

Hey just stopping by! I think I might try out the jump rope too! I have one but havent used it much. As I recall its waaaayyy harder than it looks... and its tires you out quickly!

Keep up the great work!!

Cheers,
MissD

Day Shift

Wow! What an amazing weekend. Food wise I was pretty good on Saturday, just one corned beef sandwich, three stouts, some curly fries stolen from the kids plate, and maybe 6 scotches. Sunday was worse because they had me doing the cooking for the volunteer station. One for you and one for me. :ack2: I ate way too many burgers. Only one stout and no scotch. Good thing I wasn't working the beer tent. :coolgleamA:

I got in so late Saturday night I didn't get to bed till one. Then Sunday I had plans to go with my brother mountain biking. back story is my brother and I used to be very close. Just about as close as you can get. Then we had a falling out and it was really bad for about 5 years. The last year and a half it's gotten so much better to where we are making plans like this. We weren't even speaking three years ago. (Merry Christmas was returned with silence) This is the first time we've be able to both make a biking trip, so I was not going to miss it. I had to get up at 6 to get everything ready and make it to the trail early enough so that I could do the rest of the things that I needed to for the day. It was so worth it. I got a good ride in, and made some big strides to getting the relationship back to where it should be.

The Festival was amazing. The turn out wasn't as good as I had hoped, but the site was so much bigger then previous years. The bands, well I was floored by some of them. I'm so ready to kick up my music a notch, now. I'm not looking to put on a show, but damn, I'm inspired.

I got some real nice complements, too. One friend was there and he knew that I was losing weight and he said that I looked great. "Hey, man, not as gay thing, but you are looking hot." Hmm, thanks. Looking hot to a straight guy. That's saying something. :sifone: I bought a new kilt from a vendor on Saturday and wore it on Sunday. (I didn't want to change the kilt I was wearing on Saturday) Then the vendor saw me wearing his kilt on Sunday and asked to take my picture for his website. I guess he liked the way it looked. So, I think I must be looking ok, these days. Feels good to not be the short fat guy anymore. :D

Wow! You are a kilt model now! :)

I'm glad you had such a great weekend, and I'm really happy to hear about you and your brother mending your relationship!

Ha yeah for being the hot guy! Sounds like you had an awesome weekend! I am jealous you got to go for a bike ride, but am glad it went great!
