Trevor's Journey

You've just described Michigan about 4 months out of the year--especially if you are near one of the Great Lakes. :D

Ha! I can't stand NOT to weigh myself everyday..lol I gained 5lbs over two days last week. Did I freak out? Oh, no, I'm used to the fluctuations, and I know the scale will look better in a few days.

I am surprised that you feel you need to lose more weight. 153lbs is not that much for someone of your height. My H is also 5' 10" and medium framed, and he looks good at 160-165--and he's not at all a muscle-y beefcake..lol. I think adding muscle and doing ab work to tone your stomach area would be all you need to do. Have you talked to Steve about this?

i havent talked to steve about anything, but i dont want to bother him, he seems very busy. All i know is i have a high body fat percentage thus giving me a low weight for my height

I had an excellent and strict diet day! I stayed right around 1800 and completed 20 minutes of cardio plus weights! My hunger is really bad right now, but im fighting it with water and soon sleep...

I don't have much to say tonight, except that i am really determined to burn this remaining fat...the weight is just a number so as long as i see fat loss i am fine. I could care less about the number on the scale decreasing!

Haha. Right on, brother. I have that same issue myself right now. In about 6 weeks of training hard and daily cardio I've managed to gain a few lbs (and I'm carrying an easy extra 40 lbs of fat!).

I couldn't be arsed to read it all so I'm gonna ask, are you taking measurements? They help a lot. I happen to know that I've lost 2-4 inches in all of the places that matter which helps a lot psychologically, as well as for tracking purposes. You do still need some sort of metric, even if it's just how your clothes fit - my pants fell off the other day. :D

Morning Everyone,

Just woke up and enjoyed a nice breakfast of 6 egg whites and one serving of oatmeal. Calories came out to around 360 calories with my multivitamin and fish oil caps. I just love the taste of egg whites, and knowing that they are healthier than regular eggs, just makes them even better. My roommates think im weird because i eat a bowl of plain oatmeal every morning now. They are the kind of people who will put half a cup of brown sugar in them just to make them really sweet! I hate the people who can eat whatever they want and not gain weight whatsoever...im so jealous.

Today I have two classes, and one consists of a test....fun fun fun. Its not a hard one, its just really annoying to take. Tomorrow i have another test, which leaves me studying tonight for that. Im done with school at one though today, giving me plenty of time to hit the gym for my usual triceps/back/shoulders routine with an added 30 minutes of cardio. I'm excited to go to the gym today!! I then my take a two hour nap, because i feel like it! :)

I also need to go buy some measuring tape, so i can start measuring! (thanks for the suggestion Focus) If anyone has any recommendations for a good measuring tape, let me know!

As far as my diet goes, so far so good, but lol its only been one day so im still in determination mode.

Completely random, but the the other night me and rach aka invariant on these boards were talking on AIM about dairy queen blizzards, and she told me about a fudge pop that has only 50 calories! I immediately was stunned, and i guess i made a imprint in my head, because last night i dreamed about eating one :). Me and rach also decided that after week 10 of my new diet, me and her would go enjoy one of our favorite blizzards...chocolate chip cookie dough!!! Its going to be the best reward ever. You don't even want to know how bad it is for you! (A small is around 700 cals as a large tops at around 1300 cals)

Well, i have to get ready for school soon, so i must part from the boards for a bit. I hope everyone has a a wonderful Tuesday!!!!! I will be back later this afternoon.

Trevor

P.S. focus, thanks for stopping by and recommending a measuring tape! I appreciate the support.

If anyone has any recommendations for a good measuring tape

a good measuring tape has numbers on it... that's all you need - and you're probably better off with a cloth one - as the plasticy ones can stretch a little -but it's a 99 cent investment so it doesn't really matter..

Thanks mal! Thats what i figured, i just wanted to make sure...

.

You know what, I used to do that...add a half cup of both sugar and maple syrup to my oatmeal. I've since come to enjoy and appreciate the taste of plain oatmeal. Though I do enjoy 'Apples and Cinnamon' more. It's only 130 cals for a serving and it's what I scarf down before a workout and before b-ball practice.

Oh, you and me both, hon. Everyone on my b-ball team can eat ANYTHING and not gain a pound. I find it quite hard not to be envious, even though I'm well aware it holds some of the weightiest connontations of the seven deadly sins...

Good luck on the test, Trev. I still get panic attacks when I have to take one. Yey, you're excited!! I alway get excited to get sweaty. There's nothing like the accomplishment you feel when you're drenched in wetness after you've just worked out for an hour. Ah, heavenness.

Determination is good, and you've definatly got it. You wait and see, you'll be so proud of yourself after this ten week program!!

Yes, yes we did decide this, and I will definitely follow it through. Do you know how often I crave one of these babies? I'm SO EXCITED that I don't have to scarf one down by myself too. Just *in case* I feel a sense of guilt afterwards, at least I'll have someone to vent too. LOL. Of course guilt and I are no longer intimate associates. I never get depressed anymore if I feel like I've cheated. I just make up for it by doing more cardio. This is a good thing, I think. I'm alot more likely to follow this life plan through without being emotionally screwed until I'm six feet under...

Anyways, I'm definitely holding you to this, bud. It's SET IN STONE. On week ten, you and I are going out for the best ice cream of our lives. No questions. ;)

Ahhh...just got back from the gym!

A nice triceps workout followed by 30 minutes of cardio!

I ran 2.5 miles today, and now i add 30 more minutes on to my weekly, which now is 50 minutes/4 miles

I stand at 1000 calories for the day, and im about to hit the grocery store up in search of something yummy for dinner tonight. When i get back i plan on having another small meal, packed with protein and carbs.

I'm proud of myself today because i didn't want to run, but i pushed myself and ended up enjoying it near the end! Later i plan on relaxing for a bit and then i have to study for yet another test! Do they ever stop????

Next week is the last week of the semester before Spring break starts and i cant wait for the break. The true test is my diet during that week, but i know i can do it.

No problem and such. I like Myotape cause it makes self-measurement easier for me. It's about $5 as opposed to $1, but you might have trouble tracking it down.

Hahaha, I'm proud of myself, too! I actually *did* want to run, I just didn't wanna do it on the street with people around. I've been talking about starting up a running program for ages. Feels great to have finally done it, no? :)

it has definitely felt great so far! I'm hoping this increased cardio can rid me of my remaining pudge

Well i finished the day off around 1800!! woohoo!!

Another good day, now the hard part begins (late night hunger)

tonight is going to be hard but i can pull through. I have a test to study for which may help fight the pains so wish me luck.

I doubt Steve would be at all bothered by your question. One of the reasons he spends so much time here is b/c he enjoys discussing these things and helping people. I'm sure he can give you some invaluable advice regarding your current situation. :)

I said this b/c a lot of times people get down to their goal weight, and feel like they are still flabby, when toning is all they need. Or it's that perception that they are still fat b/c they are so used to being fat that they haven't wrapped their minds around the fact that they aren't anymore. Take anorexics, for example. even though they are deathly thin, when they look in the mirror, all they see is a fat person. I'm not saying that you are like this, but you have said that you are having trouble seeing yourself as not overweight, and having some self-esteem issues. I just think you are probably not fat at 150lbs. When I met my H, he was 130lbs and looked like he had been kept in a concentration camp--well, maybe not that bad, but you get my point. ;) It wasn't until he got over 150 that he looked normal.

Me, I have the opposite problem--I feel like I'm thinner than I am. :D Most days I feel like I weight 160 instead of 219. :blush5:

ah..Dairy Queen blizzards.......sigh...I love the peanut butter cup ones. And I've been fighting off the Ben & Jerry's PB cup for weeks now. :D

I hear ya on the late night cravings. It's the hardest part of my day by far. Good luck on your test and those cravings, doll. You're a pretty determined cookie, so I'm sure you'll be fine. :hug2:

There's a pretty simple solution to late night hunger. Save up a bunch of calories and eat a big meal at night. I don't know why people don't do this - it's so simple. Contrary to dieting myths, there's really nothing wrong with doing so. My policy is to do what works. :) You might wanna take a lesson from Invariant, there. I notice she likes to pound it down in the evening, which is very smart of her given all that running. Meal timing is generally more important than meal frequency.

Unless you mean you just want to snack at night when you're not really hungry because it's habit/psychological/whatever. In which case, you'll survive. :D

ya i guess i could try a different approach to help stop hunger pains at night..but damn i always feel like i need more of a meal in the morning...i guess because when i wake up im starving! I will give it a try one of these days, but i have done well tonight.

i will try and discuss with Steve, but thanks for everything kimberly! I think thats one of my main problems because im so used to being overweight. I need to start working on my head and just keep what im doing in the weight room.

Good job pushing yourself Trev. BB may be onto something. Its supposedly hard to impossible to grow a lot of muscle without enough food, so possibly that's your issue, combined with what BB said, that you probably think you look a lot larger than you are. Though I could see you needing a bunch of toning if you carried a lot of fat before. Maybe you need a period of time to build up muscle by eating a bit more while lifting, and then cut/lose the rest of the fat after a few months of that? I dunno, just a thought.

ya, im not sure what to do, i may get around to asking Steve a few questions when he isn't busy or possibly going to a free trainer session that some gyms up here are offering. Who knows, maybe im really close to achieving what i want in my head. thanks for stopping by blancita!

You know me Trev. What Focus says, that's what I suggest. I eat up to 800 cals by 5 p.m and the rest of the 1000 afterwards. Contrary to some popular belief, it's quite possible to cram in 1k of food in four hours. When I do it, it feels like I'm being naughty. I love it....lol...

I might give it a try, but i have a weird schedule during the week where i need to eat so i may not be able to save that much toward the end of the night...

Morning Everyone,

I just enjoyed a nice bowl of oatmeal followed by a protein shake, putting my calories at 430 for the day. I had two servings of oatmeal because in about an hour i am hitting the treadmill for 30 minutes for a HIIT workout. Today i wrote everything that im going to eat out on paper so i wouldn't go over calories and its a whole lot easier to keep myself in line. I slept like a rock last night, getting a whopping 8 and a half hours of sleep, which was much needed. I feel refreshed and ready to get some running in today before Physics Lecture....blah.

I may look into a trainer around here to help with my situation as i have no clue what to do. I weigh around 150, 5'10'' and i still have that annoying pudge on me, but everyone keeps telling me to stop dieting. I may consult with one and ask them whats the best thing for me to do in this situation. I may run this 1800 calorie limit for 10 weeks and see what i get out of it. I will monitor my weight and I'm definitely going to start measuring as soon as i can get my hands on one. I really want to get in perfect shape, but im not going to sit here and whine, because i know the only way thats going to happen is if i work hard in the gym, and eat a sensible diet, as well as keep a strong determination on what im trying to achieve. I have the right mindset, i just wished results were a little faster, but im not the only one trying to reach such goals.

Off the subject...I have a test today that I'm not too worried about whatsoever because her review comes straight from the test :). I love those kinds of teachers, because they understand thats not the only class im taking at the moment.

I will post sometime later today, most likely in between classes!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day,
Trevor
