training my legs

Hi

Before we start i will apologise for any upcoming stupidity or retarded comments. But lets start

I play alot of football and I was once very fast. I grew older and I started getting bigger. Today I am not slow but I am definitely not fast either. I want to change that so i can raise my level. I know that lifting weights does not build your speed but training the right muscles combined with the right amount of running can help me. Anybody who have a excellent programme/schedule? Would be really great.

Else any tips before i start? I have a good diet so that is not neccessary to change. HELP ME! :)
 
I, of course, mean muscles. Atm I'm 17, so it was a that time where everyone grows. I have about 7-8 pounds around the stomach which is not suposed to be there but that was because of 2 major injuries. I am fit atm so I hope that explains it :)

Any particularly exercises? Should I start low and increase the lifting? The calf raises should it be with weights?
 
ive heard that lifting fast will make you fast, so explosive movements.. you could try oly lifting, but its really hard to learn and you must be careful with form.. however, if you train hard and slow, you might just get big and slow..
 
Yeah, that might be right. It actually kinda logic :)

I'll write that down and hopefully tomorrow I will make a program!
