this is my first weight loss diary so i wasn't sure how to start this off. I am a 20 year old girl, my height is 5'6"

Starting weight: 192

Goal 1: 170
Goal 2: 155
Final goal: 140
Ultimate goal: 130

I guess i'll start with my breakfast which was 2 peices of whole grain toast and half a cup of cottage cheese with some low fat yogurt.
i'm still SO full! and that was over 2 hours ago.

i'm so excited to go workout later :) it's a zumba dance class with strength training/cardio mixed in.
I'm at curves so every month we weigh in and do measuring so i'll be sure to post that :)

Thank you :) I started off not losing weight, so don't be too frustrated if you have a few weeks of little/ no change, it may take a little time to kick your body into gear.

amy, i'm gonna look at your diary! :)

I don't know if it was very smart, but i started off working out a week before dieting. but i just really didn't wan't to start too many things at once because i know i would lose focus.

as much as i enjoyed my last week of not dieting, whenever i workout out it helped me NOT want to eat unhealthy things. it almost felt as if i'd ruin everything. curves is amazing, the trainers encourage you and everyone is so nice and we all joke around while working out. but they make SURE i work my hardest.

i think i finally found a workout place for me where i'm comfortable.

That's a great attitude to have. I actually look at it the other way- the diet is the cornerstone of the weight loss for me, the exercise is for fitness/ wellbeing (and allows me to eat a bit more!). I get on the cross trainer and workout and think "and I've just worked off breakfast!", although I know it doesn't really work like that. I'm in a very small gym, and while I wouldn't say it's how you describe, I think I'm starting to become a regular face and there's a bit of cameraderie in that. The fact that I'm working to a personalised program also gives me someone to fall back on (the trainer who set it up for me). If you can get something like that at Curves I'd heartily recommend it, it's made a massive difference to what I've got out of the gym.

Feel free to steal/ suggest some recipes if anything takes your fancy. I think my cooking has improved with calorie restrictions, to be honest :)

had a special k bar for a snack, and for lunch a weight watchers grilled chicken and broccoli afredo. it was delicious. i wish i had more! but i'm satisfied for now.

Yep you have made a good start and i see nothing wrong with starting your exercise before dieting. Its ok to exercise without dieting too. But obviously you need calorie control if you are going to lose weight.

I agree with you about how exercise can suppress your appetite somewhat. If that's what you are saying. I never feel like eating crap food after exercise either.

I think its a bit concerning that you find the WW meals not enough. Its is because its too delicious or do you really feel its not enough food. How many calories are in this meal?

Maybe supplement it with a salad on the side with only a light dressing. A piece of fruit or a grilled tomato.

For me being hungry at the end of a meal is really not good.

it wasnt so much as hungry as it was so delicious.
and i guess i didn't tell you guys enough about me! haha
well here goes... i'm a little ashamed:

I could eat always. my mind does bad things. I could eat more than my guy friends. but they dont know that.
example: I could have a big mac, large fries and an iced tea, maybe even a wrap with it. even right after that my mind will be like "you want more, it was so good" and i will literally start snacking on chocolates after.

i dont even know if its out of boredom, but where as i'm never completely satisfied. my tummy feels full but it's almost like my mind convices me that it's not full.

another example:
i'll be at a resteraunt with my family and i will eat to the point of being so over full that i feel a little sick. but for some reason, when i get home, all i wanna do is eat still!

no, i dont feel hungry, but i'm never satisfied. :( it's my main struggle. always wanting more. its not just with food though. it's with everything. :(

these are just added on thoughts:
I guess i am somewhat lucky that my weight doesn't show much on me. but with my clothes off, it shows. and I'M the one who has to look at this disgusting body! people wonder why i dont date, but it's because i really need to love myself before i can love other people.
i feel like i cant move on with my life until i get healthy with my body AND my mind.

came back from my workout! i feel good, cant wait to go again tomorrow.
for dindin i'm having noodles(made out of vegetables), with grilled chicken and tomatos

Sounds like a good meal. And good that you enjoyed the gym.

If you are never satisfied, maybe once you get going on this diet and commit to not eating except for your planned meals, you might learn to be satisfied.

I dont thinks the feeling that you've described of wanting ot eat more are at all uncommon amongst the people here.

I know that there are times when i feel like that. I don't need to convince myself i am not full when i am but if i am binging, i will wait for some room and eat some more.

Now i feeling fine after a meal. My meals are a good size and although sometimes, i am ready to eat before mealtime, i notice i am not actually feeling famished and can distract myself long enough to wait for the meal.

If i am really hungry, i will just have an earlier meal.

If your feelings of wanting more never diminish ever after eating good food for a few weeks, perhaps you need to discuss it with your doctor. You might have a hormonal issue. But don't be too quick to jump to that conclusion because i've noticed that now that i am committed to my diet and my food is good, i don't feel like eating all the time, and i never feel like eating crap food. Well not so far.

Keep logging your diary and writing down how you are feeling about things as you go along. Try to be aware of how you feel. But then also remind yourself of your goals. This helps you to overcome the urge to eat more and more.

thanks for the support fortyfour, it really helps. i honestly check back all the time because i really like hearing what other people have to say.

in grade 7 my bestest friend moved away, that's when i shut down, quit soccer, stopped doing anything and i managed to get my weight up to 175 in grade 8. thats when i was teased for being fat and it kept getting worse.

finally, summer of grade 8 (going into grade 9) i worked my ass off and exercised every day and ate better. and i lost 30 lbs FAST.

then i lost even more (was down to 135lb) in highschool. and i gained it all back through depression, alcohol, stress. i had some really traumatic things happen to me in highschool. but i KNOW since i've lost it before, i can DEFINITELY do it again.

Hey Toolips <3
I'm really enjoying getting to know you through Reading your diary. It seems as though you're going to be really successful.
You eat well and you exercise!!
Your food sounds so delish.

We have very similar stats ))
so hopefully we'll reach our goals together.

How fast did you lose that 30lbs in middle school?
You've done it before, you can do it again.
I'm sorry to hear that you had awful things happen to you in h/s.
I hope that you can move on from those events.

I'll be following your progress.

I would suggest if you're not satisfied, you need to change your food. I make it one of my primary goals to be satisfied (taste/ satiety) with my food, or else I'm not going to stick to the diet. I heartily recommend my own plan of porridge/ oatmeal for breakfast and rye bread with cottage cheese for lunch. I have them pretty much every day because they work- they're low calorie and they're very filling. But you've got to find what works for you. Don't be afraid to experiment.

hey :)
thanks for all the kind words. you're so nice.
in middle school i believe i lost about 30 lbs in 2 months. and it was all through healthy exercising and eating well! i never starved, or anything.
in highschool when i got down to 135, i was walking EVERYWHERE with my friends. we would walk almost 2 miles sometimes just to get to a party, then walk back at the end of the night.
then in the summer i worked 52 hours a week, so i'd have a breakfast, 6 inch veg sub from subway and a small dinner. and i never was hungry because i think i was always busy.

and i'm definitely keeping up with your diary! it's amazing.

of course! :) i did plan out my meals for the first 2 weeks, and so far i'm loving everything i'm eating and so far i've been pretty happy with it.

i've noticed with myself before in the past that about 2 weeks into a diet, i'll start feeling more satisfied, and i'll start feeling more full with what i eat.

for breakfast today, i'm having a breakfast sandwich. (low fat english muffin, ham and egg white)
it is SOOO good! filling and only 200 cal. i'm gonna have a small glass of milk with it, and in about 30 min, i'll be at the gym working out :)
