Ok I want to ask the pros Can you do too much cardio a day? I do 60 minutes between treadmill ecumbent and ellipitcal? About 3-4 times a week and lift other days? Is 60 minutes overkill?? Thanks.....marty

Depends on your goals. Are you training for endurance? I run for 60-90 minutes 5 times a week plus 40 minutes-2 hours on the bike 3 times a week without any damage. It is possible to overtrain, yes, but you can build yourself up to a certain amount of cardio as long as you give yourself adequate days of rest and recovery and replenish yourself with adequate nutrition. I need a complete day of rest a week sometimes 2.
The questions are what are your goals? Do you feel ragged and worn down? Listen to your body, it always knows.

if you are trying to build muscle, then that is likely too much. like everything else, it differs from person to person, but generally speaking, that much cardio will hinder mass gains.

as RJ said, if you are looking for endurance, you should be fine with room to spare. if you start to feel any signs of injury though, all bets are off.

I do it for the fat burn mostly and to keep me from developing dunlap disease lol. I tried 30-45 minutes but I would say endurance is my main thing. Thanks a bunch..........marty :)
