toning your butt :)

hi, i'm asking this question for a friend (really!, LOL!). she's looking for exercises that tone the buttock area. i recommended lunges and squats, any other suggestions? thanks.

Any high incline cardio or stepping. If she has access to a gym, she can use the stepping machines, otherwise, she can wear a weighted backpack and just run up and down stairs.

High incline treadmill and elliptical also work. Recumbant bike works the glutes as well. Then, of course, she also has just gotta lose weight all around.

can you do the same to build a butt? i have a small butt and have not really thought about it but would like to build it up

cindy crawford does something in one of her workout videos that i've never seen before, and it's really effective!

you lie on the floor holding a chair on the floor in front of you. you push up on the seat with one leg a bunch of times, then do the other side.

it's a butt buster! let me know if you need it explained better.

but yes, diet is for all around, and squats and lunges of course. this is easy on the knees, though, whereas squats and lunges are NOT.

lunges work well, so do stairs. Also, try an exercise called a "good morning". Stand tall with your hands behind head. Bend over at the hips to about 90 degrees, and stand back up. When bent over, make sure that your back is straight (not rounded). The Gluteus Maximus is a powerful extender of the hip. Also, get an exercise band, if you have one available (looks like a giant elastic), tie it in a knot (so its a circle). Wrap it around your ankles and do lateral walking. Step as wide as you can and then back together. 10-20 on each side and you should really feel it in the glutes. If not, make the circle smaller.
Hope this helps!

You wold be building muscle yes. You probably wouldn't end up with a nice bubble butt, but you'd get a tight muscular butt that's larger because the muscles are.
