Time to Re-motivate!

It's so nice to have a goal to work towards, and someone to do it with. It really does make you accountable. Week 1 was hard to be honest, but I feel like I've got a good start. And I'm realizing just how much of a sabateur my husband is. I was so good this weekend and last night he went out and got McDonald's, and of course I ate it, and of course it was wonderful :p I think what's going to make the biggest difference for us is going to be meal planning. That way there's no reason to eat out twice a week. You know, it wasn't a great week, but I feel really good about it!! :cheers2:

Ah yes- the evil McDonalds. ha ha...I've managed to avoid that temptation for the most part. In fact fast food in general hasn't been a part of my diet for months now. Thank goodness my hubby isn't a fast food fan or I would be much weaker in my resolve! Meal planning makes a HUGE difference. I make a weekly menu and have it on the fridge on a magnetic wipe board so there are no excuses. I do some of the prep the night before and take advantage of the slow cooker a lot (I work in an office 4 days a week which makes it extra challenging.) I'm gald you feel good about your first week! Small steps are key, and it really sounds like you've made a good start.

Woo hoo!

FINALLY my weight has moved in the right direction :D I'm down to 147 lbs now. I realized after entering my stats on the weight loss table that it actually does average out to 1 lb a week, which is perfect! I've always had the tendency to hang onto weight for a couple weeks and then suddenly drop 2 or 3 pounds. It all works out in the end though. It's gratifying to see continued results- it almost feels like magic that I can cause results by changing my diet. Makes me feel in control, and that's a great feeling to have!

I cleaned out my closet this weekend and got rid of all the clothes that are too big for me. I'm NOT keeping them around! I fully intend to maintain my weight loss over the long term.

With the days getting shorter, I've decided that doing my hikes on country roads in the dark isn't the safest plan, so I hauled a 1980's exercise bike out of my in-law's basement. They were happy to get rid of it. It's the ugliest, most non-aerodynamic thing I've ever seen, but it's in perfect working condition and even has a heart rate moniter and digital read-out. Why spend money when you don't have to? It's a bit of nostalgia too, as my mom had one very similar when I was growing up. 80's rock! LOL

I was going to do that this weekend too but my mom talked me out of giving them away and instead I just put them in a tote in the basement. She reminded me that if I have babies one day I'm going to need maternity clothes and won't want to buy all new stuff. It was great to get rid of some bigger sizes though and make room for smaller sizes. Great motivation in my mind! Keep it up!

That's a good point- saving the clothes for maternity wear. I'm personally finished with the reproducing, so I'm fairly safe in getting rid of them :D But putting them in boxes out of the way has the same effect. Your closet would get way overcrowded if you didn't! I wish I had a bigger closet....

WoooOoOoOooOW!!!! two pounds down!!! way to go girl!!!

Thanks for the WooooW nightrunner...much appreciated! LOL. As for finding time to ride the bike- it helps that I'm not a student, so as soon as my daughter's in bed (around 7:30) the evening is mine. I only go for about 20 minutes anyway. I bet if you tried, you could fit it in your schedule somehow.

I tried out HIIT last night on the 80's stationary bike, and WOW, does that ever amp up a 20 minute workout! It was awesome...my butt and thighs are sore today so I was obviously really working it! I feel like it was actually more effective than my hour-long walks.

Not nessesarily more effective, just different muscles. The long walks are so good for your heart and lungs along with butt and thighs. But doesn't it feel so good to have that soreness the next day. I find it to be so motivating b/c you don't see results that quick... but you can sure feel them ;) That's awesome!!! Keep it up!!! :hurray:

Phew! I've had a crazy, busy week and a half (or so), which kept me from doing any journal entries. I've still been lurking though. My diet stays great during the week, but I completely derailed over the last weekend. ALL weekend, in a spectacularly disastrous way. I won't go into details, but I was scared to weigh myself Monday. So I waited until today instead, and was relieved to see that I haven't gained anything. (Nor have I lost any, but at least I'm not going backwards.) I am struggling to maintain the motivation this time around, although it helps to be on this forum.

This week is a fresh start again, and I will keep on track!

Also, it's very worth noting that today is my 9th wedding anniversary with my awesome husband  Next year- VEGAS BABY! And perhaps renewed vows with Elvis? We'll see!

Well.....I now know why my weight has so stubbornly hovered around 147 for a month. I also know why I've been so tired recently! Turns out I am pregnant, which is completely unexpected (FYI: I was on Alesse, so a word of warning to the other ladies. Yes, it's possible to get pregant on a low-dose pill. I was late taking it one day, and that's all it took. Oops!) Anyway, it's not a disaster, just very unexpected. Obviously the weight loss is going on hiatus until after the baby comes. I fully plan to return to this forum at that point. I'm pleased that I did make it to 147 lbs before getting pregnant though! Now I'm good and healthy going into it :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback and words of support! And to Thelast20- sorry I won't be able to continue as your weight-loss buddy! I wish you the best of luck.
