I am male, 30 years old.

Current weight: 240 lbs

Target weight: 180 lbs

short term target: Lose 15 lbs by June 30th

I plan to eat more salads, fish and chicken, and more herbal teas and lots of water. I also plan to exercise (jog/bike) for 45 mins daily for 5 days a week.

I know I can do this easily. Hope this diary will help keep me motivated!

Will post back soon!

welcome to the forum, looks like you have a good basic plan in place but it might be expecting a little to much having a goal of 15lb in a 1 month time period, it is normal to expect around 2 lb per week.

Hi, and welcome :)

Do you have a systematic plan for going about this? I ask this because, while your planned diet looks good, I've done the "don't eat any bad food, only eat good food" and not seen results. It's only when I started calorie counting that I started seeing results (and really good ones)- and I don't deprive myself the way I used to.

I also agree with Trusylver- losing 15lb in a month or so is unrealistic, unfortunately.

Welcome. You can lose 15lbs the first month if your diet was really bad beforehand buy you'll certainly not maintain that pace. Even if you do lose double digits month by month you'll be dropping muscle mass which isn't ideal.

Try aiming for 8 lbs a month and include weights in your workout and you shouldn't drop too much muscle.

I agree I am probably asking a little too much going down 15 per month. I did lose 100 lbs back in the days in one year. I was losing 5 lbs per week initially.

It did slow down in the second half of the year. I don't know how much I was losing since I did not always have access to a scale.

Now 10 years later, like all of you have mentioned, I should maintain a smaller but stable goal.

One thing is for sure is that I lose fast. Its just that when I think I have accomplished something, I get lazy and gain it back.

This time I have to keep it off, and this is why I am here.

Thanks for the help!
