Time of day for HIIT

I lift four days a week on a two-day split routine. I wake at 6:30am and lift after work at 5:30pm on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri. Thirty minutes of steady jogging (30 minutes - 3.5 miles) has followed my lifting. Needing to shed 8-10lbs of fat, I'm interested in incorporating some HIIT into my routine.

Would early morning HIIT and evening lifting be a worthy idea?

I'd say start with 2 days of HIIT and 2 days of the slow and steady approach. If your recovery is good, go for a third HIIT day and keep 2 days of slow and steady.

HIIT can really tear you up until you get conditioned.

I think you would be exhausted if you did it in the morning. You'd be better off doing it on Wednesday and the weekends or right after you lift a couple of days, keep it short too.

Thanks for the comments. Mornings and evenings isn't a routine that would be easy to do. The motivation would be to prevent it from interfering with my lifting.

So whether it's done well before the lifting or immediately after, the effects are typically similar?
