the automatically subscribe to thread feature should be off by default. i visited this site read about 30 threads. left for three days and checked my email and had about 72 emails all of these thread replys. this feature should be off by default and only subscribe to threads the user chooses. subscribing to everything you read by default isnt right. nobody expects that kind of default behavior from a forum.

i visit 30 different forums a day and NONE act that way by default
 
I was also wondering if there was a way to not get the e.mails although I thought that it was just threads that we have posted at least once in.
 
Changing is easy. Go to User CP, Edit Options. Down the way is Messaging & Notification. In the middle of that section is Default Thread Subscription Mode. Just put that as Do Not Subscribe.
 
Thanks, but I like to come to the forum and be able to look at threads that I have posted in by clicking on "subscribed threads" but wondered if there was a way to just turn the e.mail notifications off.
