This Trucker Fights Back

Dear Diary,

I took a walk this morning. I went over to the "big" track and did 6 laps (3 miles) and as always, the morning walk is thee most beneficial soul-searching walk of them all. This morning would be no different.

Mother Nature gave me the perfect setting. She gave me her per usual pre-fall canvas of morning dew, cool temps and an unobstructed path to all things beautiful.

With a fully charged Ipod and a fresh mix of favorites at my disposal, I cinch up the shoelaces and set sail on my destination to peaceful thinking. It didn't take very long to start inhaling the sweetness of the morning air. That taste of life in massive quanities alerted my senses of it's pureness yet heavy enough in texture to remind my body the fullness it required to extend an aging man some effort. It was a nice feeling.

I'm gliding today, I start out with "Strict Machine" by Goldfrapp on the Ipod - a pure gameface song to get underway with and what a strong title and an even stronger beat to push off on, nothing is breaking my stride, world problems are being solved, futures are being planned and a monster grin is achieved when I think back about oh so many mornings not oh so long ago this would've been a trip to Mickey D's for a 3 sauasge biscuit - 2 hash brown - jumbo coffee breakfast. I chuckle and say to myself 'what was I thinking ??'

'Shiny Happy People' from R.E.M. enters my earbuds. Yep you guessed it, I had to end my walk on that song.

Wouldn't you ??

Have a great day diary readers, and by the way, if it took getting obese to take me to a morning like this, then I'll consider it worth it.

Are you a writer on the side T2? You should be:)

It's gorgeous here too...I'm off for a long walk with my baby, but my diary probably won't be as descriptive as yours!:D

You have such a way with words, and your journal is such a joy to read! I've been on this site now for about a week and I look forward to reading your entries. You're an inspiration for us all!

:) That cartoon was very funny also. So so true! but no more:D

T2, I had a similar breakthrough acceptance of the plateau this week. It's all part of the journey as our bodies change...level off...then pick up again. It will do as it wishes. Our job is to just be consistent with a healthy lifestyle, which we've now learned how to do. We've just got to keep on truckin'.....yikes that was bad!

Well said F.M.D.

We have to maintain that all important eating modification from now till the angels grow wings. My plateau was a great experience in patience, valuable lessons were learned for sure.

Congrats on the super job you're doing *\o/*

T2, if you get a chance...check out spelin01's diary. She posted this incredible link to a calorie calculator that lays out a weekly plan for cycling calories. Totally aimed at preventing and/or breaking plateaus. (and we know how those go!!!!) The calculations and accompanying text are very interesting.

I think I'm going to try it....gonna kick my plateau with my big toe all the way to skid row where it can lay low .

Thank you resident water lady !! :)

I trust you're still on fire inside in your quest for your weight loss !!

Hey Scarlett, thanks for the heads-up. I spent about 2 hours at that link and just kept going to more links reading up on all kinds of useful info.

I found the zig-zag to be very interesting. I wouldn't know how to act consuming 2400+ cals a day !!

I got another 3 mile morning in and will more than likely get my 5 miles in today. I've been kinda stepping it up this week for a couple different reasons.

I was truly working through my plateau with a vengeance, taking full opportunity of good walking weather while it last and I know it's time to step up more exercise into my routine. After all, it's not like I can or plan on eating this way forever. There has to be a transition eventually so it's best I get the physical aspects (pains and commitment) of lifestyle change mastered now.

After showering after my walk, I decided today was going to be 'bagging' day. I spent a half hour and took all my 3X shirts (except a few) and about 12 pairs of size 50 jeans and bagged 'em up for Goodwill where I dropped them off when I took my daughter to work.

When I was digging through the closet, I found something interesting. Read this link for the story and pics.

Keep fighting the good fight everyone, I know I sure haven't given up and I hope you don't either. Let's do this together ;)

Whoa! That's very, very impressive. Somehow me being able to pull my own belt one notch tighter without discomfort pales in comparison... :D

Hey all the weight loss happens one notch at a time! Before you know it you'll be like Trucker and have to buy a whole new belt!

T2 I can't weight for John to be as skinny as you!!! :)

Man you're such a clothes horse! lol Ive never owned that many pants! hehe.

Feels great huh?
make sure you keep a pair of the largest ones so you can compare when you are down to goal weight :)

Great job with your weightloss, i can't wait until i can one day write about it and motivate many people to do the same. I think you are one of those people who just prove to others that nothing is impossible expecially losing weight. Every entry i've read not only do i see you improve weight wise but also as a person, i think it opened your eyes wide and made you realize that life is to damn short to live it the wrong way. And i hope that happens to me too. We're all worth it, we deserve to have a good life, to be able to do many things and reach many goals.
Like they say
You only live once, but if you live it right, once is enough!

I got my 5+ miles in today. I was reflecting back to the first day when I took on this challenge how I chugged along for a whole 10 minutes and my back and feet just couldn't take an 11th minute. Somehow, and only God knows where I found the gumption to do it again the very next day.

I tested my bloodsugar at 5 pm and it was an alarming 71 - needless to say I didn't take my second 500mg glucophage pill especially since was about to take on my second walk of the day. I just popped in a full sugar cinnamon disk to make sure I stayed 'up' with my number.

The funny (ironic version) thing is my doctor office called today to give me my blood test results and he said my A1c is very close to that of a non-diabetic. He offer a guarded congratulations and told me to not to ease up and keep on doing what I'm doing. He said diabetes reversal is rare from the standpoint so few are willing to put in the effort yet usually doable to most Type II diabetics.

Barnold - I thought you Laplanders only wore suspenders !?!? hehe, kidding. The mere fact you are in the re-cinching process can never be painful - only rewarding ;)

Kaitie - You and John are sorta my special interest case. Your story should be filmed and put in a documentary. What an inspirational movie that what be, I really think it's that unique. Probably one of the least inspiring motives obese people have is their loneliness. Having a woman that loves, supports and understands is incredible and I can't imagine John not understanding the value of you. I just can't think of a better story line.

wishes - Feels great huh? not as good dying my hair blue :p ;) Oh you bet your sweet bippy I'm saving my 'trophy' jeans :)

Misslovely - Thank you for the comps :) I enjoyed reading your thoughts on me, it's nice to see me through someone else's eyes. I also wanna add your saying at the end was awesome, hard to believe I never saw that saying before and it hit me like a ton of bricks. It's now my saying on my MSN addy, that's how much it impacted me. Thank you for the inspiration ;) It's not always the number of pounds lost that inspires people but the person themself. You ma'am are well on your way to inspiring others.

Congrats on your 10 lb loss so far, I'll be staying tuned for your further developments :) ;)

Awesome job on the run. You're always doing Great. Yeah, I'm still drinking my WATER, Are you??:D have a GREAT Day and Weekned. Stay Positive

Great job on your walks!!! And, that is awesome news from the doctor!!! I don't know too much about diabeties, but it's obvious your doing things right!
I'm super impressed with how much you've lost! Do you think it has more to do with the excercise or the eating??

T2: So John and I are your special interest eh? That's cool! I guess I didn't see our endeavour as a rarity but I guess it is. This of course is not the first time that we've tried to diet together...I guess about once a year we decide to go for it but then I get sick (I get bronchitis so easily--probably b/c of my weight) and he gives up. I'm determined this time though---time is running out on the baby factory. :) I also think the trainer is going help keep him going even when I get sick. I wish that he was as gung-ho about it as you are though. :)

Keep up the good work!
