This is the time

WOW Feli, you did a lot of exercise today, great job! I feel for people who have a lot of pain, especially in their joints, it sure makes staying in shape difficult. I think the swimming pool idea was a good one, as that is the best exercise to do when you have joint pain or are going through physical therapy. It's easy on the body!

I hope you have a lovely rest of the day!!!
Kim

I hope your bruise goes away soon! Ouch. Also, don't worry, once you get back into exercising you'll find it easy to stick to and your cardiovascular endurance will return, no doubt. Have a wonderful rest of you day and congrats to your daughter on her show!

Hi Felici. Sorry about all the pain! Hope you get through it quickly.
I had eggs for breakfast this morning, a nice change from my usual oatmeal.
Have a great day!
Thanks!! ;) It's funny I was reading that and thinking, sure, that pain's hardly there right now, and then I was thinking, oh yeah, I still have to actually do all that stuff again in a minute. The upside is that I am feeling the benefit quickly and I am bating my breath a little at the thought that this approach might mean I won't have to take such a slow and steady plod towards something which is more strenuous again. (Fingers crossed).

Thanks, Kim. :) Being able to get to the pool the last few days has been a big help. Perhaps physically already, but certainly mentally, because I was able to feel as though I could put in extra time and extra effort without having to be so cautious. Mind you, I am still being a bit cautious with my legs, more vigorous with my arms - and then I got a twinge in one shoulder - like a little "don't switch over and make yourself have to write another post about being sorry you were gung-ho"!!!!!! Crikey!! :D I guess it's just not my natural impulse to do things in a steady balanced way - but my body is saying it's that way or no way - get it right!! I dare say I will lurch about a bit getting it wrong regardless. Although I can't make it an ongoing daily thing, the pool is a big help.

I was thinking the exact same thing about how upping the amount of exercise I'm doing again has helped me feel like that's the way things should be; quickly made me feel like I can do more than I thought I could the first time; and that it has shifted my sense of "I ought to do some" into "I want to do lots", again!! There will still be obstacles, because the amount of other urgent things I have to do in my days and weeks fluctuates massively, and managing the combination of that and my exercise is still my long term challenge. The girl's concert will give me a week or two where I feel stretched again I expect. Right now though - it's a very nice change.

Thanks for the post!! :)

:D I will be careful. I mostly am.

I'd like to be able to carefully get to a stage where I can go flat out forever like you though!!! :D Well that might be overreaching ...

Actually what I think is good here is not so much me doing more, as really desiring to do more.

Thank you!! I hope your knee stays good!! Stretches are miraculous things I reckon - amazing how helpful they can be. :)

Breakfast: 7:30 Toast with plum and cinnamon jam. A boiled egg. Weetbix with soy milk and tinned peaches. Coffee with a little hilo milk.

Lunch: 12:00 4 wholemeal Vive crackers 100 gm tinned red salmon with capsicum. 1 Carrot. 120 gm bunch flame seedless grapes 1 coffee with milk.

Snack: 6:00 3 strawberries. Can of asparagus.

Dinner: 8:30 !/2C fettucini with sauce : evo oil, green olives, tomato, 150 gm tinned red salmon, spinach, parsley. Salad veges – capsicum, mushroom, zucchini, carrot, 1 white peach.

Snack: 10:50 Tub of diet apricot yoghurt.

Exercise: 2:20 30 minutes in a pool. Walking, breaststroke, backstroke.

There was an odd start to this. I got distracted online and suddenly realized I was running out of time to fit a pool visit in before getting the kids from school.

I had been convinced I was going though, and I had forgotten that the pool at Craigie closes later than I thought so I felt like this was the only chance I'd have. Maybe it's lucky that I did forget, because yesterday I figured, that them closing late meant I could go later in the day, and all it turned out to mean, was that I ended up not going at all, because they do still close eventually!! (Bonus however, was that I found out I'm capable of walking longer I guess. :D).

So anyway today I'm like, “I am not missing out on this!!” and I threw on my swimming gear and raced out the door and had started driving already when I thought what a shame that of the limited time I had, so much would be spent driving, and I remembered another woman told me yesterday that the new pool at Balga had already opened. And I figured it was probably closer. Turned out it is much closer. But not rebuilt yet. So now I really didn't have enough time to make it worth driving to Craigie, but I was already driving, with my bathers on.... And I was thinking how there was another pool really, really close by in a private health club, and maybe they would let me in there. I didn't want to walk in in my bathers and have them say no, but I figured they would have a phone number on the outside of the building. Even better they had a big sign up saying “Casual visitors welcome”. So in I went ... only paying 3 times what I would have at Craigie. Well it was nice though, so empty compared with the other place, so calm. Only 4-5 old people walking up and down. And at $15 as a casual, I won't be doing that again!! But it reminded me that there is another public swimming pool closer to home that would be a good choice if I'm on my own in the daytime. Also it reminded me that when we are over the post holiday financial hurdle, as a club to belong to, that place would be really, really close, and it's got a swimming pool!! Raving on I know, but I'm just happy I think. It's a good thing when awkwardness stimulates me to realize what the breadth of my options are, there's a safety net in that. I know that getting going again is partly an opportunity thing – much more sunlight now, and also, less hours at work, but also it's about strength of motivation. I'm just glad to know that I do feel more motivated than I was, because it makes things happen that otherwise would not have. :D

7:15 40 minutes walking the dog in the bush at Warwick. (and my knee was so good that I forgot about it!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!! :D)

AWESOME!! Glad to hear it :)

Ah yes, we up here have much LESS sunlight and it sucks. Oh well! At least the weather has been warm and sunny lately. Keep swimming!:hurray::willy_nilly:

Yeah. I do feel for those of you moving into winter, and especially those facing many days when it won't be possible to spend time outside. :(

I'm glad you're still getting some nice weather!!

I am really enjoying the swimming. I soooo associate the smell of chlorine with feeling relaxed, and some of the movements (eg a duck dive), really take me back being a genuine kid. I'm still doing little compared with most I see and probably always will be, but I also see that I'm quickly improving. I need to get some earplugs, or a cap, so I can start having some short goes at freestyle. (I hate it when the water goes right down my ear and feels like it's drilling into my brain!)

My happy news for today was a new lower weight. I feel some caution about it, as it's down so much from a week ago – probably last week's was not quite accurate and a bit high for some reason and this week's is not quite accurate and a bit low for some reason. However, my home scales have been showing a decrease, and my clothes feel a bit better. My bathers feel more appropriate than they did, so I've certainly lost something worth losing. :)

The scales said 70.5 kg (155 lb. Down 2.5 kg – 5.5 lb.) A definite surprise there. So I figure this means next week I might actually lose weight and they'll show no change! :D Still I'm happy! :hurray: Just 0.5 kg to go, to get back to the weight I was before the holiday. I am rueful about still being over 70 kg now, 2 months after I first reached it!! It's certainly a lot easier to do this while staying in a groove. (Here, groove = rut, but with a positive connotation!!)
