Thinsations?

So a big downfall of my dieting in the past has been my inability to resist sweets. Does anyone else treat themselves with Thinsations? I particularly enjoy the chocolate chip ones... only 100 calories and 3g of fat per package! :)

No... It's a good idea for people with self control, but once I eat one package I can't stop myself from eating all the packages in the box :( Good for you for choosing a healthy snack, though, you're going to do great!

When I feel I need sweets I first try to ward it off with a bannana or strawberry. Then if that does not work I will hold back on things for that day so I can have some frozen goodness.

I dig into some Rice Cream (rice "ice cream"). I enjoy the Mud Pie flavor. It really is very good and better than all the other rice or soy "ice creams" out there IMO. In 1/2 cup it has 190calories and 9g of fat. I then put some chocolate syrup on where 2tbsp equals 100calories and 0g of fat. Mmmmm.. Delicious.

I go with the line of thinking that says, if you want something really badly then plan your other meals so you can have it without completely killing your weight-loss efforts.

I don't think I could justify having half a cup of ice cream if I was eating 9g whole of fat. I prefer to find treats that I enjoy that don't necessarily have that much fat in them.

You can have like 50 baked tostitos and 2tsp of jalapeno cheese with only 10g of fat.... I'd opt to do that rather than having 1/2 a cup of ice cream that'll last me a minute or two.

I guess you could say that I'm more about quantity than quality ...

But you also have to consider the source of fat. The cheese would be milkfat which is considered a "bad fat" usually containing saturated and trans fat resulting from hydrogenated oils. While the Rice Cream is 100% organic and made from natural ingredients, lactose and dairy free, and has no trans fats.
But trans fats are far worse. They drive up the LDL ("bad") cholesterol. which markedly increases the risk of coronary artery heart disease and stroke. According to a recent study of some 80,000 women, for every 5% increase in the amount of saturated fat a woman consumes, her risk of heart disease increases by 17%. But only a 2% increase in trans fats will increase her risk of heart disease by 93%!

Although I do understand that you are talking about portion size here and yes, while I agree that it isn't that big of a portion is it enough to make my sweet tooth shut up! lol.

I just feel that if I have to indulge myself I would rather try to make the thing I'm eating as healthy as possible.

Absolutely - I completely understand...

that might actually be one of my downfalls... when i diet, i can't "sort of" diet. what i mean by this is that it's either all or nothing - if i decide to diet and eat ice cream i'd feel too bad about it and feel like i've failed completely.

if i was to sit down to eat as much ice cream as i wanted, i'd probably eat upwards of 2 cups... 1/2 a cup just wouldn't satisfy me... so i just steer clear of it :)

I understand completely. Especially when it is PMS time. I have to say away or I will have the majority of the carton! :D

New Flavour!!

For those of you who love peanut butter but feel to guilty to eat it (like me), good news - you can get your yummy peanut butter fix another way!

Thinsations has a new flavour - peanut butter cookies! they're delicious. I'm a big fan of thinsations to begin with, and i just love these new little creations. they're even in the shape of cute little peanuts!! :)

I don't get ice cream unless it is in individual packaged form, like ice cream sandwiches. Otherwise it is just too hard to figure out how much I'm eating. You can find little ice cream sandwiches for around 100 calories which make for a tasty treat. Since I'm staying away from dairy, I've been trying non-dairy type ice cream sandwiches. So far I've just tried Tofutti ice cream sandwiches... 120 calories each, 5g fat, and they're not bad. They're small, but good for a small treat when you don't want too much. :)
