Thin by Christmas

After a hectic year at work, I have becoming a soft, bloated version of my former self!

I always knew I needed to combat my weight/eating issues eventually, but my appointment as a bridesmaid at my best friend's wedding next July has finally given me the kick up the arse that I need. Did I mention that said bride-to-be has also requested her skinny sisters for bridesmaid duties? Everytime I fancy a binge I simply visualise how hideous and upsetting those wedding photographs could be...

And did I mention Christmas? I LOVE Christmas, but it's when I look my worst. Every year, the winter draws in and I reach for stodgey, comforting foods. On average, I usually gain around 7-10lbs, and this year would be even worse as I already gained in Spring. Christmas is a time when all my old friends from school reunite in our local pub and every year I feel that little bit chubbier. This time it will be different!

Here are some numbers for you (despite the fact that I'm English, I work in pounds, not stones, don't know why):

Starting weight: 154
Current weight:149
Loss to date: -5
Target weight: 126

I'm 5ft5, making my BMI 24.8

I hope to reach 130 by Christmas, which would require losing just over 1lb per week. Manageable, no?
126 is my ultimate goal. It would be nice to reach that by the end of January (my birthday), but the ultimate goal is that I am able to maintain that weight for my best friend's wedding in July. I have ages I know, but for me, maintaining is always the hardest part.

Thanks Cheiri!

I've just got back from holidays, and did my very best to be good. Most people let themselves relax on holiday, but early on, my boyfriend took a horrifying picture of me in a bikini and it frightened the life out of me! I was going to post it on here (with the face covered, I'm shy), but I don't know how. For the rest of the hol I used that as inspiration; I stuck to seafood and swam as much as I could. It seemed to work - I lost about 3lbs while I was away.

Been back two days now and have dusted off my cross-trainer. Used it for half an hour yesterday and half an hour today. Going to try to keep that up - so far so good. I always feel better after getting a little sweaty (emphasis on the word 'after').

Might go to Slimming World tonight, for an 'official' weekly weigh-in. I'm not really following Slimming World, but I have friends that go there and I find the support very helpful. Anyone got any thoughts on that - going to a slimming club even if you're following a different plan?!

Hope everyone's having a good Monday! x

Wow, great job on the 3 lbs over the holidays. Definitely an auspicious start! I hope you had a good time despite the "horrifying picture". By the way, if you click on "post reply" (instead of the quick reply box on the bottom of the screen) and scroll down to "additional options", one of them is "attach files". After that click on "manage attachments". A box should pop up and you should click on "browse" and simply find the file you wish to attach and go on from there. Hope that helped, but if not, I'll be glad to clarify.

Haha, I'm the same way! During I feel like crap, but afterward I'm always glad I did it.

I personally see nothing wrong with that. I think it's meant to be more of a support club type thing and people who are just starting or don't know where to turn can use their set plan - but if you have your own plan, more power to you!

I decided not to go to Slimming World in the end. I decided it's a waste of money unless you're getting recipes and guidance on the diet you're following and so on. Besides, it's motivation I need and I've got plenty of that at the moment! I just keep visualising what I want to look like at Christmas, then my birthday, then this wedding. It's working at the moment. But I think I'm still in the 'novelty' phase - you know, when you're about a week into your new regime and you feel invigorated and surprised at how quickly your body seems to react to a healthy lifestyle? That's how I feel right now, and I hope it lasts.

One minor niggle - I may want to stop weighing myself everyday. Despite the diet and all the working out, I'm 149.5 this morning. I don't want that extra half pound! I know it's nothing though and that the weight will come off if I keep up the hard work, so that's why I think everyday weighing may not be wise. But the scales beckon every morning!

Thanks again for the reply Cheiri, and the hints on uploading a photo - hopefully I'll get round to doing that soon.

xx

Yessss!

All the working out and watching what I eat is paying off. I already felt better, but now the scale is finally starting to register a loss. Was hovering around 149 for days and days, but today I'm 147.

Think I'm a little dehydrated though... Possibly a gain tomorrow? Oh well, I'll enjoy the moment!
