Thighs and stomach

Ok here's the thing, I'm working a routine I can do every day at home. I have no equipment, just floor space and will power. So I need excercises to help my thighs and stomache. I am trying to get my splits and be able to jump higher.

Please can you give me the name and description of things because I really don't know what crunches and things actually mean...-feels stupid-

Thanks in advance.

Debbie,

you cannot spot reduce. you can do as many crunches and leg exercises as you like, but if you're not eating right and creating a calorie deficit to burn fat from your whole body, you'll see little improvement in your problem areas.

crunches are basically sit ups except your lower back stays flat on the floor and you really only raise your shoulders up a few inches, hold for a count, then set your shoulders back down. legs can be bent w/ feet on teh floor, or you can raise them to increase difficultly.

for the theighs, lunges and squats.

try for exercise info, with animated pictures that show how to do m ost of them. free site.

I think that malkore was just trying to give you some extra info. I haven't been on this board for very long and I've already seen a ton of people wanting to just do one kind of exercise and expect perfect abs or something so it's become pretty common to just offer that info upfront so that people know.
hope i didn't step on any toes writing this.
Thanks!
Jennifer

I think it's rather offensive to just assume tthat someone's not eating correctly just because they are asking for some new excercises.

Dude....

Hey done start getting bitchy.....they were just trying to help you out.You can't get help unlesss you want it and it doesn't look much like you do...she was just suggesting IF your not eating right.

If I want help on my diet I'll ask for help on my diet. I don't. What I want help on is maintaining my fitness level in my stomach and thighs until I get into another cheerleading squad and don't have to practice individual excercises. If you want to help, help with what people are asking about, don't start insulting them by suggesting that they haven't yet figured out how to eat.

You have to add in some cardio. Its the best thing to help get rid of unwanted fat. Strength training also helps in building ur muscle which in turn burns more calories than stored fat. So..just think...sitting here reading this response ... you will be burning more calories if you strength train. WOOHOO!

Debbie - the best way to learn something is to listen to people or research your self ... read some of the other posts in this forum you will be sent to Trainer Lynn's site and see all the exercises for each part of your body.

Perhaps you were too busy freaking out on people trying to answer your post that you missed the correct solutions.

don't start insulting them by suggesting that they haven't yet figured out how to eat.

all he said was that you need to run a calorie defecit, the only way that he would have known that you are already in good shape is if he had read your initial introduction post, which alot of ppl on here don't actually do. with busy lives, they would rqther try helping with problems in the little time that they have. im not trying to offend here, but you DIDNT say in the start of this thread anything about your fitness level, just that you wanted help with exercises. Now in the mind of many fitness oriented ppl, we just automatically stick exercise and eating together.when we talk about one, we talk about the other as well. this is simply because there are many ppl out there that will probably read this thread looking for the same thing you are. BUT if they don't happen to know as much about fitness and proper diet as you do, they may begin to think that they can get into good shape without having to eat properly.

do you know what i'm saying? i so hate this whole typing instead of talking thing, i would rather be able to see the persons reactions to what i say, that way i know they aren't taking it the wrong way....pfff. anyways...

the best way to get the exercises that you are looking for is to search around for "body weight exercises." These would work best to your benefit as you obviously don't want to gain too much lean weight and simply want to stay toned....not to mention that you don't have any equipment.

here's acouple sites that might help

stretching...you mentioned improving your splits:

Bodyweight:

the first bodyweight page is my favorite, hope it helps you out. any questions feel free to ask; either here, through private messages, email, or msn.

good luck

Malkore was not insulting you. You can workout all you want and it won't help diminish stomach fat. Sorry. You need to eat clean, eat enough, and often enough.

If you are already doing that... great. Check it off your list. No need to get offensive. If you're not doing a carb/protein meal every 2-3 hours at your caloric range... then you learned something new today.

Either way, you don't need machines or fancy equipment to workout. Try doing general body weight exercises (Squats, lunges, push ups, crunches, dips, etc). If you have $30, I suggest getting some dumbbells and a stability ball. Then you can do all sorts of things.

I don't have any damn stomach fat. In fact I don't have any unwanted fat at all. What I am trying to get is the flexability in my leg muscles back and the strength in my stomach muscles to jump higher. That's got nothing to do with eating. It's not helping, it's insulting to suggest that I don't eat properly and it has nothing to do with the question.

Either help me or don't I really don't care which. What I do care about is the fact that just because I'm on an excercise forum people assume I'm over weight or not eating correctly. I just came to get some advice about continuing my excercise on my own, but if that is too much to ask I can probably get it somewhere else. In fact I will get it somewhere else if one more person assumes that I'm not eating correctly or that I'm fat. I already told you that I find that offensive. Most sane people would go 'ok she finds it offensive I didnt mean to be offensive but I wont do it again' but not you guys. For some reason you seem to think that it's ok to say whatever the hell you please even though it can be quite offensive. It doesn't matter. It's not your fault. That person should get thicker skin.

WELL FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Some people have had problems with their eating before and have a good reason to get offended by people telling them to eat better or get thinner. Two words for you Anorexia and bulemia. Be a little more ****ing sensative. Someone who's got over that does not need reminding of it in any way.

Not Appreciated

There is no need to make people on this board feel guilty for something they didn't do. No one told you to get thinner. I had an eating disorder so I understand that you have issues with food, but no one on here told you to start eating less than what you should or anything of the sort. And since you didn't say that you had perfect eating habits people just wanted to provide that information to you.
Normally I wouldn't even respond to post like this, but it really bothers me how you are treating the very helpful people on this board. Anyways, I just wanted to voice my opinion that you came on here to ask for help, recieved more than enough information, then decided to complain about it, and it is not appreciated.

Telling someone how to eat when they don't ask for it is rude and disrespectful. No matter how you turn it around. You think it's alright to try and put people down by hinting that they can't eat right. Fine. You do that. Doesn't mean I have to like it or even be nice to you when you do it.

But whatever. That's not the point. The point is that it's completly off topic and I find it offensive. The topic is stomach and thighs. Not eating habbits.

But as you guys are too immature to just accept that. Fine. I'll walk away and leave you to it.

Debbie, the first thing to understand is no one was attacking you! If you search the boards, anyone making a post asking how to "tighten up their abs" or "wanting a 6 pack" will get a response about food. In order for someone to be completely healthy and succeed in all their fitness goals, they need to have a very clean diet to begin. You can do a million situps and live in the weight room, but without a proper diet....you will see minimal results. That is the only thing anyone was trying to tell you, no one assumed anything, and no one was being mean to you.

This board is full of wonderful people who really do want to help you out. Trust me, they have been there to help me for a while now offering up suggestions that really do help.

....question. right before she went on the rant about us not helping at all, did i not give an extremely large amount of help? its like she didn't even see it *sigh*

I think someone has issues.

Debbie, you are a very angsty young lady indeed.

Your initial post is quite vague, so you should not be surprised (or offended)
at the content responses you received.

And to think that the guys who took the time and effort to answer your post where intentially trying to offend you - well - that's just plain ridiculous.

How the hell were they supposed to know that you may or may not have had an eating disorder?

As the other posts have said, the exercise alone will not make miracles happen, toning, flexibility, weight loss, whatever, all require a good clean diet.

But hey, you obviously know all of this.
